Regional Representatives
ECHO is actively seeking volunteers to represent ECHO in a number of key areas across the country.
As part of the ongoing strengthening of the organisation, addressing the issues regarding national communication and to relieve to workload of the current committee, ECHO is appealing to anglers with good local contacts, a reasonable understanding of carp angling issues and the willingness to get involved!
Through the SAA, ECHO has been corresponding with the Pike Anglers' Club (PAC) for guidance on structure. Mark Barrett from the PAC and ECHO will be heading up a meeting in the very near future to define the role to those that have already volunteered their help in the past to promote ECHOs message.

The intention is to have a Regional Rep in every part of the UK. This would involve liaising with angling clubs, groups, societies etc. to render a point of contact for ECHO regionally. Networking with contacts, building contacts also representing ECHO at fishing shows etc.
There are, however, other opportunities available. For those that aren't able to commit enough time to fully do justice regarding the Regional Rep role it would be absolutely fantastic if they could help their Regional Rep by supporting them, as and when they can.
Anyone that believes that they might be able to help in anyway, I would ask you to seriously consider writing an email to Ruth, as even if you could 'only' spare a couple of hours a month, it would help immensely!

Details of the first ECHO Regional Workshop
1200hrs-1500hrs Sun 28th Sept 2008
Lower Berryfield Fisheries, Shillingford, Wallingford OX10 7ET
Draft Programme:
Refreshments and Introductions followed by:
a short visual presentation entitled "What is ECHO?"
followed by a questions and answers session.
there will be a short comfort break and the workshop will continue with:
a briefing on How to establish an ECHO region?
followed by Q & A again.
Infomation packs on ideas on how to get involved and membership forms will available to take away.
Anyone interested in becoming a regional organiser and simple keen to learn more about ECHO is welcome.
ECHO hope to repeat this workshop idea across the country to appeal for regional support and hope to announce another in date in Doncaster shortly.

Richard, do you think that ECHO, what they stand for, what there aims are and what they are trying to achieve. Mirror the average man on the banks ideals?

Sorry Jeff I've only just seen this question!
In all honesty Jeff, I believe that 'the average man on the bank' is concerned with enjoying a relaxing couple of days on the bank and trying to catch a fish or two into the bargain, as is the nature of our sport. I truly believe that if a lake they were then fishing went 'wrong', they would simply move to another, without too much worry. Nothing wrong in that.
If you were to list the aims of the organisation and ask 'him' if they were a good or a bad thing, I think most would agree that they were a 'good thing'.
As for the 'ideals' of 'the average man on the bank', and I presume you mean angling ideals? That in my opinion removes him from 'the average man on the bank' category.
It places him among a group of anglers that hold a conception/perception of something in 'its absolute perfection', and that will strive and endeavour for those goals, if you see my point. Ideals are removed from the 'every-day' thought process and the vast majority of anglers fish to remove themselves from the pressures of life, and not to take those pressures to the bank with them.

ECHO's appeal for regional support has been enthusiastically received and we are proud to announce the birth of 3 new ECHO groups:
Tony Prayel is covering South Essex, Dean Watts Dorset and Paul Chandler for Surrey/Middlesex area.

ECHO asks all new regional organisers to host an introductory social event and I hope local anglers will support them in their efforts to communicate with the local community.
ECHO will play a small but vital part of any first regional meeting. The introductory meetings will create an opportunity for ECHO to present a short slide show about the organisation followed by a question & answers session.
This will allow anglers to learn a little bit more about ECHO and ECHO to gain feedback from members and non members about local issues.
Details of the first confirmed regional meeting in Essex featuring Dave Levy are elsewhere on this forum, but both Dean & Paul are in the final stages of planning their introductory events for early Spring and details will transpire over the next few weeks.
A great big thanks to Tony, Dean & Paul for their help and to those that also offered assistance where they could in those regions, make yourself known to these guys, they will be needing your help!!
