Just had a weeks fishing at a lake called Roseau    Left the man servant Chad behind and went with 2 Southerners I know , as soon as we're on the ferry we are giving each other the North/South banter and how much they are going to whip my arse etc    So we have a bet, fiver for the 1st fish and fiver for the biggest. (I know we aren't really Northerners but anything past Watford Gap is Northern to to those lot ) After what seemed an age of travelling we arrive at the lake and the other lads who are fishing the same week are already there. A quick walk round and then the draw is done, pegs are chosen and the owner turns up to quad bike all our gear round  I'm soon set up and fishing, the tactics for the 1st day were pretty simple, different bait on each rod cast out with a pva bag. I had been up for close on 30 hours so couldn't be bothered with marker floats or spods      The 1st night went without any action but Sunday morning we were just having a bite to eat and my alarm signals a take, I'm on the rod like striking cobra   and am into my 1st fish of the holiday. Nothing big and it's a pastie around the 7lb mark, a little disappointing but it was the 1st fish so I'm a tenner up    During the day another couple of pasties and looking round the lake most folk were having a few fish, so things were looking good. Sunday night however the skies turned grey and it looked like rain so we got everything under cover prepared, what came next was unreal cripes!    I was sat in my bivvy with the worst thunder storm I have ever had the "pleasure" of fishing in, thunder and lightening and in the middle of it I get a run, so I'm now out in the middle of it with a 12ft carbon conductor in hand, cuckoo!  I was "bricking myself" the fish shed the hook somehow and to be honest I wasn't bothered, I reeled the other 2 rods in and got under shelter. The following morning sees the sun up and I'm up and about around 5am, just put the kettle on and I get a take resulting in a 20lb 12oz Mirror   Recast and 15 minutes later 1 of the other rods is off, strike into it and it's obvious this is a big fish, after 10 minutes I had hardly made any ground on it and started to think maybe it ain't a carp, just kiting from left to right at about 60 yards. Another 10 minutes and I'm gaining ground and then I see it, it's a sturgeon and a fish I had never caught so wanted to see it on the mat, not too long later and my wish is granted and weighing in at 27lb 10oz not a bad specimen either  (Caught on the home mades too   )

It took an age to recover and swim off (Bit like a barbel I felt)

After that fish it turned into a dry period for me with no more fish until Friday, but a good time was had with good company, plenty of beer and a super BBQ so it wasn't wasted. Also had this pair for company all week

I did send Chad a text for the recipe of a Goat curry but wasn't too sure if the owner would approve  LOL

Early Friday morning I awake to a 1 toner and after a nice battle I have this beauty on the mat, coming in at 33lb 2oz the biggest of the week for me

Friday turned into a good day with me having 6 fish, a 29lb mirror and a new pb common coming in at 27lb 6oz

Into our last night and I have a couple of pasties plus this 29lb 6oz Mirror

Saturday morning is soon here and we're packing away the gear, whilst packing away 1 get another take and this Mirror is responsible weighing in at 28lb on the nose, a great way to finish the holiday

Final tally for me was 14 fish

7 at 10lb and under
20lb 12oz Mirror
27lb 6oz Common
27lb 10oz Sturgeon
28.00lb Mirror
29lb 6oz Mirror
29lb 10oz Mirror
33lb 2oz Mirror

Not a bad catch some may say but the lake could have been so much better, too many anglers on there and some of the swims were on the dangerous side to be fishing in

I good week was had and that was due mainly to the company

Top rods of the week was this pair (Top rod as in most fish)

John and Rob or Rob and John  (After a week I still got it wrong every day )

Biggest fish of the week came to this fella Geoff, coming in at 41lb

Hopefully a few of the folk we met will be popping in to say hello

P.S.

Note to Ghost, Mrs EFTE apologises for faling asleep but she thought you had gone home, didn't realsie you were still at it LOL

No mate, all tha pasties came out to Moonfruit  LOL

Not really bud  The Sturgeon was on the homemades, the 33lber on a bait I was given (no idea what it was )
the 20lber came out to a pineapple pop up baited with moonfruit freebies and the rest of the 20lb plus fish came out to the moonfruit.

On the last night I baited up the 3 rods on their baits etc 1 was on moonfruit, I then put all the moonfruit that I had left in around it. I had 6 runs that night all on the same boilie LOL  I only left the rod on the rests after it had come off

Moonfruit.........top class bait

Right, is the cheque in the post Dean?  LOL  LOL

Nice pictures Mac.  You didn't tell everyone who won the biggest fish money.  I enjoyed the holiday also even though the bank I fished on resembled a mud bath for a fair part of the week.  I have not worked out how to put a picture onto the Forum yet but I can tell everyone that during my week I caught thirteen fish weighing 15lb, 19lb, 26lb (first ever twenty), 16lb, 34lb 6oz (first ever 30), 8lb, 16lb, 37lb 4oz (new PB), 23lb, 33lb, 26lb, 24lb and 23lb.  The last seven fish were all caught in the same day between 2 and 8 pm.

Cheers

Hi Drew

Nice to see you finally joined

To put a picture on the forum

You 1st have to have your picture hosted on the net, loads of sites do it but a lot of folk use Photobucket

Assuming you are that far you need the url of the picture, copy that and then when you post in this box and want to insert a picture click the IMG tab at the top

then paste in the URL

then click the IMG tab again

then click submit and hopefully your post and picture(s) should appear

Do me a favour though, start your own catch report/blog about your trip (I don't want a red dog ruining my thread   )

LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL

Oh and by the way the winner of the biggest fish comp between me, Jeff and Macca was Macca.........the lucky so n so if you ask me
