Have just done a boit of digging around as to previous stockings that Simon and i carried out in years gone by with fish that Simon spawned. We stuck a handful in Sandhurst and to say they have done pretty well may be an understatement!

have a look .....

http://www.vsfisheries.co.uk/gallery/index.php?cat=9

If you have caught any of them from Sandy and wouldnt mind me using the pics they would be greatly recieved.

Have just got pics through of two of the fish that Simon and I stocked into wraysbury back in 2001. Neikther are doing to bad at upper 30's now . Click on the link above and you will see them there... this year may see a couple more 40s appear in Wraysbury I think!!!

Still trying to track down a couple of the other ones we introduced at the same time.....

Just to keep you updated on whats happening on the farm.

All the fish are out now and we have just completed our first spawning of the year.

Over 1 million eggs from 3 lovely females were spawned and  are now first feeding fry which will be stocked out over the coming days into the fry ponds. All Sutton strain and we will keep you upto speed as they grow.

Now for a warm summer, feeding fish and a little bit of a quiet period !

Scaley from Sandhurst has now done 40 as well...so thats 3 out of 7 introduced that have done it! Pretty good strike rate I think !!!!

Hi All,

Just a quick update on the farm.....

fish are growing well at the moment with 3 inch sutton & leney crosses  stocked in April now over 8oz !

The big fish are feeeding hard too

Even more exciting is the fact that we have just had planning approved for another 7 acres of ponds which we plan to build this summer. First harvest from these fish will be in November 2009 all being well!

Jaffa

If i could squeeze it in i would love too....... but time is tight with the full  time job and the farming business too.  Think I may have to create a blog page on the website so that we can put up regular updates on whats going on with the fish and the farm.  Perhaps I will investigate this further. Would people be interested in it???

We were asked to do a series for a production company but we couldnt fit it in due  to commitments elsewhere and it was supposed to be a bit like Jimmys farm if you have seen that.  But we may look at doing it in the near future when time allows.

On another note just had a call from someone that has just landed a fish that i stocked in 03/04 at 11lbs which now weighs 33. Not bad at 5+lbs a year. Hopefully will get this up on the site soon once i have got pics and the go ahead to use them.

Perhaps I will see if i can get steve down for a day when we are harvesting to show VS Fisheries in action so to speak . Mite be a nice follow up to our first article.

Well over the last few days we have sampled a number of the ponds to check on growth rates and all I can say is WOW !

The little Sutton and Sutton x Leney babies are flying with many already around 10oz and seeing they were 1oz back in March thats some going!

The fry that we spawned back in late May..i think... are doing well as well with many around the 2 inch mark as well.

Some of the C3s (5lbs ish) that we kept back to ongrow have hit double figures already and still have a good 2.5 months of growing season left. God knows how big they are going to be! The others are  around 7 lbs now so look to be aiming for them to be 9lbs + by harvest at least.

Very good growing weather at the moment so fingers crossed for a decent remaining few months before the big job of harvesting them starts!

PS Watch out for pellet prices rocketing in the shops.....trade wise they have increased by about 20% already this year!!!!!

Well its that time of the year......Harvest time!

First small ponds have produced some brilliant and stunning fish.

First pond was one with fish that we stocked out at 3 inches in the spring. The best ones have now reached 3lbs whilst the majority are all around 1lb. Not bad seeing that they weighed less than 1oz when they went out.

On saturady our first small pond of 4 summer carp was drained down and fish that went out in the spring at 4.75lbs have grown to 9 - 13 lbs! Simply awesome and scaley too!

Big ponds next and we hope to have hundred  of doubles, mid doubles and twenties being delivered in the next three weeks.

Keep an eye on the website for harvest shots as they come!

Viv

Hi All,

Just thought I would drop a link on here of some fish that we stocked into Cemex Sutton 3 a few weeks back! I think they look alright!

http://www.cemexangling.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=99130

Been a busy winter and still lots to get out to customers and hand grading the fish of the future too!
