Did a 24hr session with my rent boy Chaddy, arrived at the lake about midday yesterday and found there was 3 other anglers on the lake, had a look at the vacant swims and a chat with Chad, we flipped the coin and he wins and gets 1st choice of swims. Once that's decided it's get the rods out and house up. I'm a little short of home mades due to rolling none since I got back from France and only have some CH sweet corn boilies in the freezer. One rod is cast to it's spot with a 16mm plus a piece of fake maize, pulted around it is about 70 freebies. The 2nd rod is set up on a snowman rig. Quite a few fish are cruising in the upper layers but none even looked at a dog biscuit About 7pm my left hander is off and the big lad is in A great scrap from the culprit but it was soon under control and Chad nets it at 1st attempt. Coming in at 15lb 14oz a nice start
Rod back out and a few more freebies pulted out. Me n Chad enjoy a glass of vino and are discussing how confident we are of a fish or 2 during the night, retire for some zzzzzzzzzzzzzz's at around 10.45pm, around an hour later I'm woken up by the left hander again but this time it was a bream around the 3lb mark Recast and back in the bag, it was getting quite chilly. Not a sound from my buzzers until 4am and the same rod is off again A strange take this with the bobbin rising slowly which made me think it was another Bream, how wrong I was Once I lifted into the fish it was obvious it was a carp on steroids as it tried to get round an island but applying a lot of pressure I steered it into the centre of the lake, it then came in quite easily until it was under the rod tip and then it decided it was going on a bender and off it went across the lake again, I can't remember back winding so quick Eventually I get control of the fish and have it netted On the mat and it looks like it's been in the battles The needle on the scales went round to 22lb 2oz Chad gets a wake up call to do the honours
After it was released back to it's home, I went back to bed for some more beauty sleep, nothing else until we were just packing away and I land another bream
An enjoyable session but I think I need a new car/van/lorry as every time we go it seems to get fuller _________________ under 18? Get in THE ZONE

ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON
I have an 11 year old Niece and she has been pestering me to take her fishing for ages, we usually go a couple of times a year and after an hour she is usually bored. I asked the other 'arf if she fancied coming along for the afternoon and I nearly fainted when she said yes, "let's take a picnic" So a trip to the supermarket and the car is loaded with enough snacks etc to feed the 5000 We arrive around 2pm and I decide we will go in a swim the furthest away from everyone else. I have maggots and sweet corn as hook baits plus a few floaters if there's any carp cruising.
The cygnets don't look too old
We start off with maggot and it's a bite a chuck with small roach and skimmers being the villains My niece was struggling to handle the rod and get to grips with the notion of striking when the float went under but she did try.
She soon became more interested in the goodies for the picnic rather than fishing so the master (me if you don't know ) took over. I have a few more skimmers and then hook a carp, which comes in at around the 2lb mark. A few more fish and carp are showing on the top so I set up a controller float etc and have a go for the carp off the top. I bag a couple more both around 2/3lb and just as a gesture ask the other arf if she wants a go. "ok" she says, so she casts out and I'm explaining she doesn't have to watch the float blah blah blah and these lips surround the bait and the controller is off across the lake like an exocet With my assistance she plays it in and we have another carp on the bank around 4lb. It's now getting to around 6.45pm and my Niece is bored so the other 'arf has one more cast, yep you guessed it, another pair of lips comes up and slurp! The bait has gone and shes into another carp
After a while I eventually net it for her and is the biggest of the day, probably around the 5lb mark, she would hold or even touch the fish so this was the best pic I got
Apologies for no unhooking mat, but it was very soft grass
All in all a top day out and apart from my weeks in France the best grub I've had whilst fishing _________________ under 18? Get in THE ZONE

It seems ages since I have updated my catch report, a stag do in Riga plus other things have got in the way of fishing so when a friend of mine rang asking if I fancied doing an overnighter with him I jumped at the chance I arrived at the lake around 4pm and had a walk round, looking at the log book a few fish had been out so with the overcast conditions and the catches confidence was high. The gear was soon barrowed round to my chosen swim and rods and house set up. I then decided to put a small bed of bait down near some lilies at about 40 yards so out with the spod rd and stuck about a dozen spods of pellet n corn plus about 50/60 of the homemades The other rods were just sent out with bags on. My mate arrives a couple of hours later and chooses a swim to my left, we have a few brews and a bite to eat and to be honest I was a little disappointed no action to any of the rods when I turned in for some zzzzzzzzzzz's at about 10.30pm. It wasn't too long before my margin rod was signalling a take, so out the bag like coiled spring and I'm into a fish About 30 seconds later the line goes slack and it's gone Recast and back into the bag for some kip, no action until I'm rudely awakend by my left hander going into overdrive so out the bag once more with catlike reactions and I'm into another fish, this time it was no match for the master and was soon kissing the spreader block, it weighed in at 17lb 2oz
Sorry about the poor quality of the pic but it was early morning
Once released back to it's watery home I put the kettle on and had a brew then back in the bag for an hour or so, getting up to listen to Fishermans Blues on TalkSport 11am and I'm starting to pack away when my rod on the baited area is away Feels like a decent fish but once under the tip I see it's a common of around 8lb, not the biggest but it was a looker
Another enjoyable session
The view from my bag at 5.30am

Today was my 1st visit to the river after the Berties, I planned to be there for 1st light but went back to sleep after the alarm went off at 3.30am I awoke again about 4.45am so up and off to the river arriving there about 5.30, walk to my chosen swim and I'm soon set up and fishing Confidence is high and the river was looking bootiful
After an hour no sign of fish so I move further downstream and again am soon set up and fishing, alas it wasn't to be and after about 4 1/2 hours with not so much as a tap on the rod I decide to call it a day. On the way home I remember I have a bucket of doggies in the car and not being too far away from my club lake decide to go and have a couple of hours floater fishing. Arrive at the lake the wind is blowing down into a bay so I set up near the bay and fire a few doggies in, repeating that every 5 - 10 minutes. After about 30 mins there is signs that carp are in the area and then a SLURP and a big pair of lips takes down a doggie or 2 Out with the controller and pult more doggies out, around 5 or 6 carp are slurping the doggies like there's no tomorrow so it wasn't long before I was in
Weighing at 17lb 6oz no complaints from me
Safely returned and I start flicking the doggies out again and not too long beofre they start showing interest again, but as soon as I cast out they seem to have spooked and did a runner
Kept on pulting the doggies out and about 1/2 later I'm in again, this time weighing in at 16lb 2oz. Unfortunately this one had considerable mouth damage
Once released I decided to call it a day and head home, not too bad a session though _________________ under 18? Get in THE ZONE
