from redmire, a while back
carpmanjay

i guess from that pic its around 50lb but its hard to judge from it.
light leads

thats eddie prices picture of the redmire monster, taken while he was in the punt i belive.
matgreasley

JAY!!!

thats like the most famous carp photo ever lol

basically....20 years or so ago, eddie price took that picture of what he thought (and still thinks) is a 70lb carp from redmire
carpmanjay

lol ive never seen it, i do recall hearing it tho, it just doesnt look that big, ive seen twotone on the bank and in the water and i must admit he looked bigger. still its hard to tell from a pic tho
light leads

i think the photo is a bit older than 20 years, it was taken in the 50s or 60s.
matgreasley

my knowledge of the picture is really limited, i still love it though!!!
light leads

yeah it certainly is one of the best m8! I think my favourite has got to be Jack Hilton with "pinky" from redmire its simply AWSOME!
matgreasley

maybe the fish in the picture is the bishop??
light leads

no eddie caught the bishop at 40lb, that later went on to become chris yates record. This one was either the king or queen, it was much much bigger than anything ever caught.
matgreasley

do you, or anyone for that matter, think it might be as big as eddie thinks....

i like to think it is
light leads

I would like to think so to. Remember his is not the only account of a redmire monster, rod hutchinson saw a carp that he said was as big as a man! Unfortunatly he never got a picture of his sighting. There were also lots of other top top carp anglers who saw fish beyond our wildest dreams swimming around in redmire.

Terry hearnes picture with Mary from in pursuit of the largest where hes cradling mary with the caption "like a baby whale"..

My favourite carp picture i think.

I thought Chris Yates record was called '38' because it always used to get caught at 38lb's

It was 51lb    but it's name was '38'
light leads

yatesy named it the bishop, it was known as the 38 also but more known as the bishop in later years.

i feel so lucky to have stood in the tiny swim and look out towards the gap in the two islands were Sir Pete caught those two from, an amazing feeling i can assure you!!

If you want to know a bit more about the redmire picture read quest for carp by jack hilton.  In one chapter he has what he thinks is that fish at the net but it wont go in coz its too big it eventualy sheds the hook & slips away.
dime

the fish in matt's pic was taken by eddie and chris yates told me that eddie said that he looked over the side of the punt and saw the head on the left and then he looked over the right side and saw the tail, then watched the fish swim off in to the depths.Could redmire do a 70lb? yes i dont see why not.
