Mark Mann

Carp Man Jay's your man there mate : )
matt

thanks mark mann
carpmanjay

what would you like to know fella??

Blimey the tolminator must be slacking if you have been walking around!!

which lake are you interested in as i only fished the bungalow lake (lesters, plodder etc.)

And most importantly do you live within 20 miles of Watford town hall?? As that is a another stupid new rule!!
rav

carpmanjay, do you know whats actually left in there, got a ticket, dabbled over there this season, want to give it a proper go before its too late.
cheers

A lot of the old warriors died Rav. But Plodder is still there and I feel sure it will go 50 this season. Darrell Atkins posts on here a bit and I will ask him to have a look and let you know.

kind regards Jeff
rav

cheers jaffa
carpmanjay

unfortuately i fished the lake before the latest fish kill so i havnt kept in touch with the place but i know the bullet home  common died which was a lovely oldgirl, fond memories of her  but best tip is stay well back from the water as in dont even move to fart!! the fish are right under the tips so keep the rods back too. Bit of gravel to the left of telegraph swim is good but just be stealthy and you will quite easily find the fish!!
rav

cheers mate.
matt

Im a member of the club but i want to start fishing tolpits next season
matgreasley

im quite interested in tol pits, unfortunately i think i am just a tad outside the 10mile catchment area.
matt

yh lol
rav

im out the catchment area aswell, but my auntie isnt    lol

nah me and matt are members of piscators and at the moment we are fishing the other lakes on the complex but we are both dying to have a little go on tolpits this summer
we walk round it most times whilst were there, looking for signs of fish, trying to get to know the water a little etc.
but we just wondered if anyone had any more info on the lake, i.e from past experience of fishing it
cheers
carpmanjay

well ask uncle jay anything you need..
matt

I was just wondering wat test curve rods you whould need and what lb line
matgreasley

just out of curiosity, can you fish guest sessions?
matt

Yh you can its 4 pound
Ben

yeah £4  but accompanied by a member who you are fishing with whos name you bought the ticket in
rav

2 1/5 lb tc + should be fine, as for line i wouldnt use anything less than 12lb.
carpmanjay

well i used ESP hearnys on there 3lb4oz models but theres little weed and you certainly dont need to cast as most of the time your baits will be in the margins so any really.

as for line yeah 12lb plus really with plenty of leadcore as the fish do fight well!!
Ben

cheers for the info
might have a little dabble on there in feb half term for a couple of day sessions
jumping the gun...probly
but i just want to try to start to get to know the water a little which will take time so maybe start early

give it a proper in a couple of seasons
rav

give a proper go as soon as ben, might not be the same water in a few years time.
carpmanjay

its changed a lot since i fished it to be honest, i dont miss those daft rules tho, 1 kilo of baith per 24hr, as if!!

no wading i got a bolloking for wading in the margin to put a fish back 6 ins deep!

And do not leave your rods, you will get caught and get a life ban, even in the middle of the night there watching, trust me!

Say hi to the tolminator  for me lol
Ben

rav wrote:

yeah thats why i wanna start sooner rather than later

lesters already gone, wouldnt be suprised if plodder went next tbh
so yeah i wanna try asap
robvford

jay, didnt the tolminator book hearn for having his rods spaced 6 feet apart or something stupid?

and matt, if you read hearns second book there is LOADS of info in there
Ben

yeah i think i can guess which bailiff the "tolminator" is lol
probly the same one who had a go at me and matthew for having 1 net and matt between us when we were using the only 1 rod each in the same swim
i couldnt see the difference between me using 2 rods of my own but oh well

i want to get hearns new book becasue alot of the people down the lakes have said about alot of stuff on tolpits in it but, £30 quid though!  ouch
matt

I remember that day ben lol
rav

yeah hearnies books got loads about tol in there. quiet a good read too.
matt

Yh might have to get it
matt

I got 12lb line on now but i was thinking of buying some 15lb might just use the 12lb line and save the money for other stuff
carpmanjay

you wont need to go higher than 12lb fella, the snaggy corner has been 'pruned' and you really need your gear as unblatened as possible!!

those carp have seen it all mate!!
walker

Lesters, the Box fish, Arfur, the big common and the bullet hole common are all swimming the lake in the sky.. Was busy last season and back to its proper hard self...

I didn't do much time, busy on other waters, but do want to catch Plodder before its to late...
robvford

arfur and the box fish were awesome carp! real shame theyve gone.

cant be many carp left now?

about 20??
carpmanjay

plodder, baby plodder, big italian all worth having  a carck for
matt

I whouldent mind catching plodder, baby plodder, sputnik and the long common you should check out the new watford piscators site now it has all been updated and there is a forum on there now
Ben

yeah my targets when i fish on there will be basically the same as matts
also wouldnt mind catching red cheeks aswell though, stunning fish from the photos ive seen of it along with sputnik too
lee .c

plodder got caught a month or more back at 50+ didnt it ?

cracking fish cripes!
matgreasley

what 12lb line do you have matt?
matt

i have the 12lb daiwa sensor
matt

Dose anyone no if there has been a carp cort out of tolpits lately
rav

i know plodder came out late december/early january at 48+
matt

Oh that the first i heard about that ive been asking people n thay are saying nuffin theay must if been keeping it secret lol
rav

i dont think the regulars let much slip their. wierd bunch really.
matt

Yh true some of them are ok and some of them when you say hi thay just look at you and dont say nuffin i went round there the other week and was speeking to some bloke for about 4 hours lol
carpmanjay

Well Matt if you talk like you type i doubt id reply as i would think your village plonker!!  The best way to learn is fish, respect other anglers down there, im not sure if you realise how much effort we have to put in down thre for the results, we are not going to give are hard learnt knowledge away are we!
lee .c

i read it on a large public forum ,and i believe its in one of the rags this month
matgreasley

rav wrote:

was that before or after it went 50?
walker

After, think it was on the Cemex 40's list
JAFFA

From what I can remember, it went 50 and this was a small surprise to some, then dipped in weight the next time out.

I honestly feel that Plodder will establish itself as a genuine 50 this season.

kind regards Jeff
rav

yeah it went 50 then dropped back down to 48.
i too reckon that this season it will start to establish itself as a 50+ fish
matgreasley

I suppose it was just on the very edge of 50 wasnt it, it was bound to drop weight after getting captured, surely all big fish do?
walker

Plodder's a female fish so her weight will always fluctuate with the winter weights probably being the best..

But have to agree, the big girls seems to be sustaining very heavy weights now, if she's not a 50, she's gona be very close.
Ben

yeah i was walking round there today, having a look all round
didnt see much though

would be good tio see it establishe itself as a 50
i was thinkin that the italian is always coming out at high 30 on there, could do a forty soon?

Was you the chap walking around with 3 mates?
The locals are a good bunch, its only a few who are a bit funny. It is not an easy lake so please bear that in mind. You may do a whole season for a big fat blank.

The big italian rarely hits 40, tbh i dont think it will do it again. I live down there at the moment, say hello and you'll find some of us are pretty helpfull!
matt

was you fishing it today

yeah i do have green clothing lol, just we rode down today and didnt fish so i didnt wear any green
Margin Master

A mate of mine had Plodder last september, he done a fair bit of time on there and had a few, sounds rock hard and the silly rules dont help,
Another mate of mine got a telling off for not having a bucket to have a dump in eventhough there are toilets on the site, madness!
carpmanjay

yep and he will rattle it to see if you have used it too!!
robvford

i read all about the tolminator in jims book!

didnt he tell hearn off for having his rod spaced more then a certain distance apart??  cripes!
Ben

according to the rule book
there not meant to be more than 6 feet apart from each other
Steve Howard

cripes!  So, you have to take a bucket with a hotdog in it, even if you intend on using the loos?

That is the craziest thing I've heard for a very long time! :?
robvford

Ben wrote:

another silly rule lol

thats was it hahahaha

and he woke jim up in the middle of the night while it was flooded  cripes!

lol yeah
theres 2 portaloos on the complex and your meant to have a bucket but you are not aloud to empty the bucket into the toiliets

lol
Steve Howard

This just gets better by the second... its a complete nut house! cripes!  LOL
Ben

lol theres only a few silly rules

apart from them, piscators is a good club, especially for junior members
carpmanjay

no water bourne baiting craft!! lol

1 kg of bait per 24hr, cough yeah right

cant remeber the rest but loadsa rules, good fun tho!!

Hiya Russell remember me!!!!  Uncle Jim and essex Jay say hello!!

Infact il tell you a little story that happend on my first trip down!

I got to the lake abouyt 5 am on the 1st of may. found a few fish in the snags and luckilly drew the swim near to them. now as the fish was there i was worried about line angles and the best spots to present a bait. so a quick call to uncle Jim for a bit of his knowledge of the swim as i knew he had done a lot of time in there. Info gathered and as a last thought Jim said, if you see Russell watch ur back but give him a message from me, somthing along the lines of ' Jim sends his love and he will send you a signed book in the post' , well russell went berserk when i gave him the message and threatend to take way my ticket there and then lol, When i told jim he wet himself laughing !! Thanks mate!!

I think from that day my card was marked!!
Steve Howard

Thats the only problem with 'clubs'... they say that the camel is an animal designed by committee, I think you can see why! LOL  LOL
carpmanjay

new rule last year, you cant join if you dont live within 20 miles of watford. sorry lads !!
robvford

hahaha

jim (from what ive read in his book) got banned for STUPID reasons!!

i felt so damn sorry for him! he was only catching the fish!!
Margin Master

I know a bloke who got banned for life for publishing an article about a tolpits capture and wrote he waded in to net the fish.
He got away with wading in at the time but after the tolminator read his article, he made an example of him and got him banned for life!
walker

It's no where near as bad as you lot make out, half of you probably dont even fish the place lol...

Yeah some of the rules aren't great, but they can be bent.  8)  But if you wana catch plodder, or the Italian then you gotta just keep your head down and get on with it...

lol...seriously its not that bad down there, but i tend to avoid summer and the crowds. Ive "met" russ, he did seem very keen on sizing up my bucket, but better that than me standing in a turd. Nice club, ive enjoyed my time on there and caught some nice fish.
rav

does anyone know the exact fish numbers in there?
mungo

does any 1 in watford fancy letting me move in with them , if you know what i mean
ALTHEGREEK

mungo wrote:

ive got one more to get then we can be roomies!

fish stocks, less than 20 originals, some simmos to 30 and about 10 renagade commons which i think i more than worthy of being in there as some are relly nice fish...all in 3 acres..sounds easy huh!
mungo

sounds good mate thanks
danny king

The last time I fished there was about thirteen years ago!! I think back then there was something like 70 fish in the lake,  I think there is around half that amount nowadays but there a lot bigger now!! Back in the day they used to sneak into the margins very early in the morning and then do the off as everyone started making a bit of noise!! What I used to do was leave my rods out of ther water during the day so there was no lines in the water and the slip them in the margins with a baiting spoon last thing at night,  ready for the early morning feed!! The fish in there seemed to drop there guard every now and then and go on a bit of a munch!! If your on the lake when they do you'll ave em out the margins!!
matt

Anybody Had A Go On Tolpits Recently
rav

dropped my ticket, hated the place, and the bailiffs, and the fish i wanted outta there died.
carpmanjay

hated it??? i think tol is one of my fav lakes, beautifull, good lads, seure.

plodders still there aint it???
matt

yeah plodder is still there
carfty carper no15

i think it is a great club
carpmanjay

like i said i loved it there, the tolminator cracked me up and made the fishing more interesting,

Rav why dont you want to catch plodder???? awesome fish mate.
backlead

great club before the "tolminator(gordon)" became involved

committee ain't much better with all the low water, adding stock at the wrong times of year, taking the snags out and the list goes on

if you youngsters and new members could have seen it in its hayday

sheep

backlead
carpmanjay

have they  taken the snags out of the corner???

tolminator gordon?? what happend to Russell
backlead

surname(and if I am wrong then it will be rare)

sheep

backlead
matt

Yeah they have taken out the snags out from the corner i think they have taken a few snags out but i havent realy had a look round there this season
carfty carper no15

they have also destory broadacres there is not a snag left
rav

jay mate, its changed alot. been butchered. snags, gone, loads of trees cut. i mean, without the snags what hope in hell o the fish actually have. i mean, the italian out 3 times in a week, sputnick out twice in a week. i hate tio say it but a i will be surprised if the real gems in tol survive the rest of the season.

plodder, awesome fish dont get me wrong, but its not one that i particually wanted, and there are fish out there that i would rather have so im going to concentrate on them.
mungo

still wouldent mind having a go just for the history of the place , dont think id ever put enough time in to catch many but would like a go never the less ,
seems it wont happen unless i move though???
fullylove007

Been talking about this with cc15 and i was wondering what you think they will do with he piscators lakes after plodder has gone because most of the members are there pretty much for just that fish, so once he has gone alot of members will leave aswell. And i doubt that piscators can afford to lose members.
carpmanjay

well this is how it went for me.

1st of may 12.06 pm 6 mins into the new season i lost the italian on a snag in the margin from the bungalow!

3 nights later, box fish.

4 nights after that baby plodder

7nights after that plodder!!

1 night after that lesters!!!

15 nights all in all fishing sat night and sun night thats all, so it can be done. and it was very busy at times!!!

Tis true that most of the members there now, including myself are only really after Plodder, been lucky enough to have had my other targets from there. Not sure how long the originals have, im not going to criticise the club, but taking the snags out of the car park corner is another nail in the coffin of the place. The reason given was to give the day "tench" anglers somewhere to fish - i am yet to see anyone fish it! one poor mirror has been out 6 times in quick succession. A good club, nice waters, but Tol should have been handled more delicately, especially with the gems it holds!
matgreasley

surely that fish's only real chance of a longer life is the safe movement to another water? a lake thats what, an acre or two?? getting completely rammed with anglers after one fish which has no where to hide, its ridiculous!
