theres only really about 5 or 6 people really going for it on the leather.

dont worry about the cars, not a problem anymore.

any info on anything dont hesitate to ask.

Holds a nice common Maple and a lot of recent stocked smaller carp. Some cracking Tench also

Jay, I was a bailiff on there and if I can help then just pm me buddy.

kind regards Jeff

Ha Ha Ha you boys do make me giggle...............hello Rav and young jeff guess who's nosing about on this forum

The leather pit is a pukka water to fish!! as rav has already stated during the spring the pit does tend to get a little busyer do to the fact that the big gal slips up twice from March till the end of April!!  The trouble down there is no where as bad as it used to be, although i would recommend you don't park your car down there at night.........there is still some dodgy stuff go on in it after dark and although we do have a police patrol pull in there from time to time i still wouldn't personally do it!!

Young cripes! jeff states there is a big common in the island lake!! yes there is!!  You must remember the island lake was the first lake on the complex to be stocked with carp! and originally toady was one of them until her and 17 mates were moved over to the leather......There are still a few original stock fish in there and some of them are proper uns  unfortunately there is an ongoing stocking program going on with that lake and there are a lot of hungry pasties to wade through! this will be one hell of a water in the future but at the moment its a single to low double runs water

Best place is on the main road at the top of the lane, well lit up there and that seems to put the little toe rags off a tad, the car park is pitch black and way off the main road...........no cars have been done over of late but like i say you still get the odd undesirables in the car park at night, and personally it's not worth the risk in my eyes! the new bods park down there but us old crew don't!!

Rav yeah things are cool bud!! like you say long time no see, give us a PM when your on mate and i will drop in for a brew with ya!! off to pastures new this coming season so won't be around much spring/summer but still pop in to uphold my duties so to speak.
backlead

well frodo/gary. when was the larger common moved then?

backlead

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  what you have to remember is there are 4 lakes on this complex at one time or another some of the fish have swam in all 4!!

I know of one particular fish that originally swam in the school pit! it was then moved into the leather pit, where it swam happily for a few years before getting legs and moving over the causeway! in the first year of walking she went from 23.04 to 28.12 she has not hit the bank for a few years but she is now over the 30 mark, so her little walk certainly did her good!! there are cracking fish in two of the pits and if someone wants to wade through the pasties then i think the old island lake could throw up a big surprise

Gary I make you right with regards to the island pit, but it certainly is not any surprise to myself and a select few others(yourself included I would wager)

Is Blue(Paul) still about?

kind regards Jeff
rav

the island pit certainly could throw up a suprise. a BIG common swum straight under my feet in the summer. in years to come this water will be phenominal.
its thrown up a few 30's this season aswell hasnt it?
carpmanjay

well im glad i asked!!

To be fair im only really interested in the leather really ( different debate im sure) and once it gaces my net il probably move off, as bad as it seams but i can fish for doubles etc locally!!

Jaffa, im going to be hounding you at the social!!

But yeah it seams a pukka little lake, reminds me of tol a bit!

Its not bad at all mate........its what i did!! i had a little play on the island pit when the leather was busy! i also dropped on there for a short time after bagging the "toad" as i was a little lost as to where to fish at the time!! the lakes are local to me so i'v spent many a hour up the trees on both the lakes the "toad" is the jewel in the crown..........or is it      do not under estimate the island pit!! why am i not fishing it then??????????? not for me the numbers game, its swarming with pasties at the moment!! my fishing time is limited to overnighters and the last thing i need is up to 10 low doubles a night boohoo
carpmanjay

exactly my point mate, yet no doubt there are people out there who will label us as glory hunters etc lol. Ive served my apprentiship big carp is what i really set out for. I still enjoy catching smaller fish and hell ive even photographed low doubles if there nice looking fish, y not!!

Got any pics of the toad??
frodo

No photos mate......didn't take any of her cuckoo!  cuckoo!  lol....yeah got some mate but not on the pc, will try and load some up and send you some. she was 40.04 and she slipped up at 5am on the 27th of March call it what you like!! bounty hunting or glory boys i don't give a monkeys ring piece!.........done my apprenticeship fella!! you sound like you have the right attitude, you will fit in on the leather mate....a few like minded boys on there at the mo!
frodo

There you go carpman the Toad @ 40.04
richchappy

what a fish,...
frodo

Thats what it's all about on there!! all the pain, all the blank nights and all the therapy the lake throws at you! its all worth it in the end
rav

thats a wicked picture gary.

im only really on there for the leather, i do fish the island pit a bit in the winter but wont be starting any campains on there, like you said, too many smaller ones.

would be nice to see someone catch the big common though, just to see how big it is.
carpmanjay

cheers fella!! and very well done!!

I seam to recognise you mate, fish the colne valley much??

I love that fish, now i have  picture of you and her next to my computer!!

inspiration ....
frodo

Yes mate i have a ticket for a no publicity water in the valley  i have also fished Rodney Meadow, before the fish kill on there boohoo and  a couple of others around that area  Fancy pit 3 at a later date but have a couple of target fish  North bound on the M1 first

remember just because you have a photo of me next to your PC doesn't make us a couple OK .....LOL
carpmanjay

Not a clue what your on about ....if i told you that i would have to kill you LOL
carpmanjay

mmm right oh  cuckoo!
Michael

i never used to see what all the fuss was about with the toadless, but that pic makes me see why, amazing.. cripes!
carpmanjay

Watch this space boy's!!
frodo

Ha Ha you fancy a bit of that do ya carpman?????????????? absolutely wicked fish, can be hard going on there but all worth it when that baby comes over the draw cord some good boys on there at the mo! so let battle commence!!! Oh yeah 2 sugars in my tea fella
carpmanjay

lol yeah il try to do a couple of nights a week, although might leave it till autumn
frodo

tut tut tut..............she's a spring muncher!! 2 to 3 times a year!! Spring is by far your best window for that fish, the water becomes a real gruler after spring, the natural food in there makes for very spasmodic results! the lake doesn't get its reputation for nothing!! it becomes a real head banger.
