the next terry hearn???

with carp fishing moving so quickly, and so many wanna be stars coming in and dissapearing within weeks, the tackle companys sponsors looking more like the football transfer market, is it now just way to big to have one anger that stands head and shoulders above the rest, there will always be good anglers but do you think their will be anyone who becomes as big, influential etc etc, as this, or has time moved on,
mungo

the problem youngsters face is there isnt many places to pioneer like young hearn and as soon as they become sponcerd they have to fish places like the manor, wellington etc to keep in the profile
Cambs Carper

I agree mungo in one way your right, but on the other hand alot of the youngsters in carping want to jump straight into the limelight of carping by fishing they manor or places like that there are waters out there with huge unknown fish in there, just not many youngsters like that sort of fishing IMO  and i know there are plenty of youngsters like this sort of fishing myself included.  But say I or any youngster catches a 30 out of a river thats not going to get noticed as much as a 40pound simmo out of some little pee pool somewhere even though the capture is twice as meritable
Margin Master

The era of the carp fishing superstar is over, in the 90's you had anglers like Terry Hearn & Dave lane who would be in the press regulary with prestigeous fish from prestigeous water's which took more than time and bait to catch.
These days the magic is gone the prestigeous fish that Hearny and Laney caught a decade ago are not as prestigeous anymore, and the anglers that catch them are not in the press regulary enough.
The guys that are in the press regulary these days are usually with well known fish from Bait & Wait circuit waters, where in reality anyone with enough time on their hands and enough bait in their freezers can eventually catch them.
These sort of angler's might think they are the next Terry Hearn and the angling press might portray them as such, but really they are plastic superstar's and dont even come close to Hearny.
There are some superstar quality anglers out there but they are far outweighed by the 'plastic' superstars especially in the angling press.

carp fishing isnt what it was 10-15 years ago, MOST waters have been documented by some [censored] looking for fame and living off doing well from one lake, once there article has been put through all the mags they then live off testing nash jogger suits and pva bags.

There will never be another terry hearn in this sport. theres no waters to pioneer, theres plenty to fish but they have all been done.

some of us are lucky to have a  quiet scene with cracking fish, but just remember theres some kockhunter just waiting for his crack at fame even if it meens ruining theyr 'favourite' water.

Off the top of my head I can think of three that have not yielded their biggest residents yet.... cripes!

I know a few too there is a lot out there but those who know keep there cards held close to there chest and rightly so!!!!

Terry's one of the best but i can assure you there are some lads out there who are just as if not better that choose to keep themselves to themselves.

i know you probs didnt mean it this way, but thats one thing on forums that really gets to me,

people coming on, oh i know 10 waters with unknown 50s in that are unknown, but i wont tell you, using it as a form of elitism or somthing,

if you are trying to keep them hush why even post it on a forum,

and again, im not saying you meant it like that, as you were just using to  prove a point...

Rich there are many waters out there that hold big fish and have never seen the banks or been caught. I know of two farmers ponds close to me that hold 40lb+ fish that have never been angled for. I know of one 60 acre reservoir that holds high 30s if not mid 40s that have not been fished for in anger for 10/15 years or more. Rich......Folk know a lot more than they let on buddy and the longer you spend around carping, the more you will pick up on this......Its all out there buddy, but sometimes you have to get "on yer bike" and find out for yourself.

kind regards Jeff

Pete im not explaining myself well enough.

we allno of our local waters that have real gooduns like yourself i no of a few...

But what im saying is.. all the people in the no, no about these waters and maybe have dabbled. sooner or later one of our mates will then publicise  the local area and ruin it.

Back when terry made a  name for himself, in my opinion he just publicised on waters that had already been 'blown'. but what seperated him from everone else is how many he caught  and how consistant and quickly he got it done.

Two waters fairly close to me have fish in excess of 50lbs (as English as you will find ).... yet there is a distinct lack of anglers on them considering the amount of anglers on the busy 'circuit' waters around here.

It could be because of the relatively low stock density and because both are notoriously difficult to locate the carp... easier rewards on more known pits...

But... the fish are there to be caught.. I have seen them on a couple of occasions and so has Dean.. When I eventually get some angling time I will be on these two lakes, if someone does have a result on either of them then good luck to them, it will be well deserved and if they choose to publish their results, that is up to them. Remember, 99% of the knowledge around today is because someone, somewhere, passed a snippet of information on... we just have more effective means of communication in carp fishing now than 20 years ago....
