Cheers!  Richo
maple

yes ........dont forget to tie a hook on    LOL

any idea how many carp are in there ?
spend as much time as you can  ,walking the banks on sunny  days /evenings , taking note of where you see carp .......
slack deepish water near a pacy stretch can be very good , carp dont like to work to hard for the grub lol .
once you find an area they visit more than others , prebait it , at least a couple of weeks before you go , 2/3 times a week .
hope this helps m8 ,

Keep an eye out around any marina mouths they seem to like marina's and back cuts and bridges.
Prebait as maple said in obvious places like overhanging willows and around boats moored for long periods of time or any snaggy areas.
I would leave the bivvy at home and only take a unbrella and don't sit in one place to long try and cover your prebaited swims in a couple of sessions if nothing accurs prebait a couple of new spots.
The good thing about river carping is once you find the fish you can usually hold them there without anyone knowing.

good luck to you richo

1) Find the carp
2) Dont be shy with the bait, most of eat will get munched by bream/chub/barbel etc etc.
3) Features, bridges, marinas, etc are a good starting place
4) heavy leads to combat the flow, depending how fast the river is running
5) If you get a few spots going well, keep em quiet!!
6) Dont give up, effort reaps rewards on the rivers!

Step one, find the carp if my drain experience is anything to go by this is the hardest part but once its done they aint that hard to catch.
Step two, feed the carp, particles come in here there as they are cheaper to pile in, dont be afraid to heave bait out there as you not just feeding the carp. Start you campaign with loads of bait and as you get nearer to fishing cut down on the bait slightly and keep going until you are putting in say 10 kilo once a week for the last two weeks until fishing.
Step three catch them LOL
