Theres a new fishery open for the first time to the public this year which is producing 20 kilo fish. Its a small water 5 hectares close to the spainish border 2miles from town Badajoz (Spain ) & approx 8 miles from the town Elvas( portugal). The biggest fish so far to date is just under 24 kilo common caught by english guy called Tim Daley. When i get hold of the photos of some of the fish ill post them here .

Here are some of the fish caught by 2 local carpers .The lake is called lago de Alfarafia .

The lake was created in i think 1992 from an old paddy field (rice ).

I spoke to Matt of FAT Angling this afternoon, and will probably be joining him early next year when he visits the lake...

The lake needs alot of work done to it ,to fall in line with the average french commerical fishery. The lake has ver y little in the way of features except a large reed bed at one end & thats where the fish send most of there time.

I note from your profile info that you are in Povoa de Lanhoso, that's about 5 hours away from the lake.... do you fish there much caveman?

Fished "Lago Alfarófia " at the beginning of this month and 4 of us blanked for 3 nights thusday til sunday .They was already 4 spainish camped up in the plum peg next to the reeds since tuesday they lost one and had an a18 kg & 16 kg on there first night .
It not a runs water the smallest ive seen is 10.5 kg and the biggest just under 24 kg all naturally fed on crays til this year.
The owner doesnt have a clue about carp fishing he said he pulled a dead 28 kg mirror out the wter 3 years ago and fed it to his pigs . boohoo
