Perch?I have a lake nearby, although its primarily a carp water, it does contain perch to over 4lb.
I would love to have a big perch, might have a go this winter.
Has anyone here fished for specimen perch?

The only time I have caught big perch (over 2 1/2lb) is when piking mate, I had a PB perch using a small roach dead bait about 3inch long.
You'll probably know already but I from what I read lobs worms are a good one for perch

Perch are one of my favourite fish (when there big!) they just look so nice.
Try a small livebait (if allowed) suspended under neath a chubber or loafer float fish it close to any likly looking features, if there is pike in the lake you MUST use a wire trace you can get the supple stuff i dont reccomend the drennan soft strand it frays like mad try the fox stuff.
If liveys aren't allowed you could try several lobs one broken, on a ledger rig popped up of the bottom, to pop the worms up inject them with air on a solid surface, you need to be quite carfull so you dont inject yourself. Try to locate any small prey fish and feed theese as when you get a few silvers feeding the perch wont be far away.

Thanks guys
I read a few perch fishing articles earlier and one guy reckons his best perch have been off deadbaits between 5-6 inches long.
Im not really a fan of livebaiting (think its a bit cruel) but ill probably give lobs and freshwater deadbaits a go.

I love perchfishing in winter, livebaits are my number one choice but never ignore the little and often approach of trotting through red maggotts and spraying them every cast , deadly method thats accounted for my biggest perch.
