Onions' Carpin' Adventures - Wooop Wooop!!!Tair Llyn
After joining a local gravel pit synducate in June this year i caught my first carp from the lake: infact i managed to land 3 up to 16lb. So was well chuffed at that.
I went again this weekend and had a run just as it became light oon the Saturday morning. but unfortunately it snagged me in the island trees despite having the clutch set tight.
Every night i rebaited the 3 spots that had taken my fancy and the final night i had more bait than i expected to have so i thought i would givre it a go and put in about 20-25kg of particles and pellets over the one rod i had been baiting the heaviest and fished 2 tigers on the hair over the top. I also put a few more boilies over the island rod to see if it made any difference. This morning lead to one of the blitzing runs. While playing the fish my left had rod also burst into life so i quickly grabbed it and got it out of the snags and it felt like a nice fish. somehow i managed to play the 2 carp for a while but eith the swims being tight , the line rubbed on one of the branches and cut so i lost the fish on the left hand rod. Despite the loss of the one i landed this stunning fully scaled mirror- my first mirror from the lake and my first proper fully scaled carp!
I recastr both the rods and had no further action all day. as it was approachin 5 ish, my dad phoned to say he was on the way so i dismanted my pod and left the rods on the mat for the last 15 mins. the next minute i heard the familiar ticking of the clutch as the rod burst into life. after a long hard fight i landed another fully scaled mirror of 17lb 4oz from the baited spot.
Whilst down springwater lakes last weekend i managed to bank about 15 carp includin moriaty at 16lb, a lovely linear and a P.B common of 20lb 8oz
So what a month i've had! Don't think it comes better than that with qualifying for the WCM final and a 30lb 9oz catfish aswel!!!

finally had chance to get out for a session this weekend. i went do to my local tair llyn to see if i could winkle one out before i go on holiday as i know it would be one of the last sessions of the year with one or 2 things cropping up before i go. anyway
so got away from qwork about 2 ish and got the lake n got set up and placed each rod pefectly ready for the night. by half 4 it was dark so rang up a mate to have a chat to see how he'd been doin and before i knew i t i was asleep. the wind was harendous coming straight from the coast into the back of the bivvy. so it was givin my armo sum stick. around half 10 i had a few bleeps on my right hand rod so i got my trainers and a hoody on ready just in case when it bleeped again do i put my headtorch on the tip of the rod which was twitching so i stuck. i was expexcting a tench or small carp as usually the takes in here are screamers but it come obvious that this was no tench or small carp as it run me round the island and under the marginal trees and snags,. i could feel the line graiting on the underwater branches but manged to get the net under a common. i lifted it out and placed it on the mat. i was chuffed to bits to have one at all but to have one this quick i was over the moon.got a rreally dodgy photo and weighed it at 17lb8oz so was a good result considering the weather. unfortunately i couldnt recast the rod as it had to be done by boat so i put some bait out with the stick and rebaited it the following morning. the rest of the session just brought rain more rain and more wind but no more fish but was a great time out on the bank.
Trying to row out in that weather wasnt easy i tell you! lol
