Photoshop the pics or use the night setting on your camera

Maybe the flash is to strong and there is to much light bouncing off the fish
Could be your white balance on your camera is incorrect...

a typical fish from there in the day
this was a good night shot on a self take except being out of focus
and then this happens a lot of the time
goes kinda washed out, is it just cos its too far for the flash to work as admitally, the self take was quite close...
on the mat but

It's your flash bouncing off the fish by the looks of it
We can all see the fish and you know you caught it
Isn't that all the satisfaction needed?

ye, but tbh if i am bothering with a picture, i would want it to be the best, seems a bit degrading to the fish, propper dark fish that look mint end up looking like pastys haha
so would it be best lowing the flash intensity

If your camera had a night portrait mode that might help or lower the flash intensity or try without flash... most cameras have a no flash mode

Lower the flash intensity or set it to a soft mode!
Make so much more difference
