Macs adventures

Well I suppose its time I started a catch report in here

Today me and Chaddy decide it's time for a session at our local club lake. Arrive at the lake around 6.30am and find 2 guys already there. We decide to fish one end of the lake that gives us a fair bit of water to go at without others interfering. 1 rod on the Carphunter sweet corn boilie and 1 on the homemade 66.
Nothing as much as a bleep to show for about 4 hrs, by this time there's one or 2 carp cruising so out go a few doggies. The odd one gets slurped up but nothing serious. Another hour later and I'm still flicking the doggies out and decide to chuck the controller out to a few cruising fish. Got the odd inspection from Mr and Mrs Carp but they just didn't seem interested in feeding Chads better half turns up with my errrrrrr I mean his daughter Megan and we have a little picnic Megan then decides she wants to give me a feather she had found (Thats more than I've ever had out of her dad!) I turn round to take it off her and my floter rod in my hands is tugged out of my grasp. With the reactions of a cat I rescue the rod before its dragged into the lake. A nice fight follows with the fish leading me a merry dance around my swim.
Chad does the honours of netting and looks into the net, "Mac it's a 20" he says. For those of you who don't know me and Chad have never caught an English 20, plenty of French ones(In France ) so my heartbeat goes up a notch or two. The scales are zeroed and in the sling she goes and the needle goes round to 19lb 15oz
The scales are zeroed again and again but they won't go past the 20lm mark. (Chad did suggest sticking a few boilies down it's throat LOL )

Anyway a new English PB so I can't complain

An hour later and I'm in again but this time to one of my 66, a scraper double who put up a fight deservedly of a fish twice its size. Another 1/2 hr or so and I'm in again, to the 66 yet again The culprit was this critter coming in at 16lb 2oz

A couple of yeards ago I applied for a syndicate place on a small lake not too far from me. A couple of weeks ago my mate who is in it phoned to ask if I was interested in fishing a match on the said lake, the idea being to target small carp, any caught would be removed. Also it would give me chance to meet the owner and try and impress etc etc so I accepted the offer. The arrangement was draw at 7.30am for an 8.30am start. I also agreed with a couple of mates to go for a beer last night but I wasn't going to stay out too late, got home at 2am the worse for wear :? Woke up at 8am and couldn't believe it, so I rang my mate to say was it ok if I still came. No problem was the reply so I chucked the gear in the car and arrived at the lake around 8.45ish, they'd drawn me a swim...no.13 and so I set up. Only carp under 10lb would count in the match, at that time nobody had caught, I cast both rods and within 20 minutes I'm in resulting a lovely looking common but no good for the match as it was 17lb 7oz, I was well happy anyway. Another hour and I'm in again, this time a small common around 4lb, sack it up and recast. 2o minutes before the end of the match I'm in again, resulting in another small common around 5lb. I haven't got another sack so reeled the rods in and left it in my landing net. Have a walk round and find out only 2 other carp caught to the same angler so its going to be close cripes! He weighs in with 7lb 4oz and I weigh in with 9lb 2oz and pocket a few quid LOL

PLUS..............I'm in the syndi from Aug 1st, what a great day

Got the green light to join my new lake so without an further delay went down yesterday and did a 24 hr session. The rods had been in 15 minutes and my left hander is off  5 mins later and it's lost to a hook pull.  Recast and nothing for a couple of hours although loads fish coming in/out of the swim, the middle rod bursts into life and I'm off the mark, in the shape of a common about 2lb :?   , recast and put a few spods over pellet back out and settle down to a brew, just as the kettle is boiling I'm in again, on the middle rod, this time resulting in a common around 10lb. 8)  The next 4 hrs went through similar stuff with another 4 fish all around the 10lb mark. Around 10pm (ish) I turn in for some much needed beauty sleep (Shut it, the lot of ya ) only in the bag about 20 mins and my left hander is off again This time a bigger common is the culprit coming in at 14lb 7oz. Back in the pit and about an hour later I'm out again to the same rod, another common coming in at 15lb 3oz. Recast and apporx 40 minutes later I'm out again  this time on the middle rod which was cast out to some lilies, it had soon buried itself and I couldn't shift it so put the rod on the rest for 15 mins then had another go but still no luck, ended up pulling for a break
Have a brew and then back to bed, not too long and I'm out again but this time to the dormant right hand rod cast about 6ft to my right near an overhanging tree.

When I opened the mesh on the mat I immediately thought "flippin heck" its a 20, on the scales it went round to 0lb
cuckoo!

replace the rod and back in the sack, 6.15 ish and I'm rudely awoken to the same rod again, out the bag like a striking cobra   The mystery fish surges out into the lake and leads me a merry dance around a couple of dot islands and through my middle rod but after around 15 minutes it kisses the spreader block could this be the magic 20   8)

I couldn't even lift it out of the water  then realised the net was caught on a tree stump cuckoo!   Onto the mat and it's a monster  Weighed 3 times and comes in at 24lb 4oz

My very 1st English 20  dance

sorry about the pic but I'm still getting to grips with the self takes

Had a 3 more fish around the 13/14lb mark and packed up at 10am. All in all not a bad session

Just come back from a 2 nighter with Chad, to say this is a tale of PB's is an understatment

We are both on holiday so decided upon and 48 hr session somewhere, we were going to give Linear a go but due to the weather and the News decided it wasn't too good an idea. So decided to fish a lake on our club ticket, we have never fished the lake for a variety of reasons, but have talked to other members and it always came across it was quite a hard lake with not that many rewards. To be honest, with the weather forecast on Thursday we nearly didn't bother and was going to go and get wet on the inside for the day We both said lets get out there so the car is loaded and to the lake we go. Arrive about 12.30pm and have a walk round, 1 guy fishing on the tip for the bream, had a quick chat with him then we decided on the swims. We set up up in the rain and baited up then put the kettle on. I'm set up with 1 rod on Carphunter Sweet Corn boilie and 1 on my own, within 45 minutes my right hander is off and a beautiful mirror comes in at 15lb 2oz, no pictures as it was "persistantly raining" and I hadn't got my camera out.

It really was raining

About an hour later the same rod screams off and one of the best lookers I've ever caught appears on the mat

What a stunner at 15lb 8oz

Not too long a wait and the same rod is off again Once on the mat it looked like a 20but would it go over the magic 20 mark Well, folks who have been reading this thread will know I seem to be getting addicted to 19lbers and this was no different, 19lb 10oz, a new pb common so well happy

We are treated to a superb view in the shape of this rainbow.

My left hander is away and a 12.4 mirror is soon on the mat the released. The rod doesn't seem to have been in the water long before it's off again, the culprit was this common at 16lb 5oz, affectinatley known as "1/2 A GOB"

It has a deformed mouth that looks like it is natural rather than anglers having caught it.

It all goesquiet and we retire for the night, in the bed about an hour and my right hander is off on a one toner, out the bag like a coiled spring and I have another common at 16lb on the nose. 3.0am and I'm rudely woken by Chads alarm Not too happy as Gayle always says I need my beauty sleep Anyway, I'm out to give him a hand but while he's brining his fish in my alarm screams off, so do a "Linford" over to my rods and soon have a 12lb 10oz common on the mat. Back to bed and about an hour later Chads alarm wakes me up This results in a pb for him but I will let him tell you about it . Nothing else for the rest of the day until around 5pm and I'm in again, once on the mat this HAS this has to be over the 20. On the scales and thet jump round to 19lb 14oz, another PB common so can't be too disappointed

Into the 2nd night and I have perfect sleep with no interuptions from my rods 7am and I finish off with another common weighing in at 14lb 8oz

Al in all a great 2 days fishing, in great company, thanks Chad

The results for the bait comp

Carphunter sweet corn 6 my homemades 3

Also had 6 Bream to around 6lb

Just done a 24hr with Chad, we went to the same lake as last time. We flip a coin and Chad wins. :? So, he's now in a dilemma, after what seemed an eternity he chose the right hand side of the swim and so I'm in the left. (If given the choice I would have chosen the right side too )
Both rods are cast in by about 2pm, nothing at all until around 7pm and my right hand signals a take, out of my chair like a sprinter out the blocks LOL and I'm into a fish resulting in a bream around the 5lb mark Recast and not too long a wait before my left hand rod is away and this time its deffo an angry carp on the other end a brilliant scrap results with this common on the mat weighing in 17lb 5oz

Recast, and within an hour I'm in again to my right hand rod resulting in a 14lber Into bed around 11pm and to be honest was extremely confident of a few fish as they seemed to be all over my baited spots It wasn't until 4.45am I was rudely awakened by my alarm, once I lift into the rod this feels like a better fish 10 mins later Chad appears looking like death warmed up I say to him I have a decent fish on, its giving me the runaround and can't get it's head up. Another few mins and and Chad scoops the net under the fish Once on the mat I couldn't believe my eyes a mirror that we guestimated at about 13lb, on the scales it went to 12lb 3oz, I can honestly say that was the hardest fighting 12lber I've ever caught Recast and I put the kettle on, 9.15am and I start packing up when my right hand rod is off again, this time an 11lber is responsible (they are getting smaller ) 11am and the rods are reeled in, another enjoyable session and my personal photographer did himself proud (I've just got to show him what a kettle is now................ Gayle, hellllllllllllllllllllllllllppp )

Sorry no pics my batteries were flat

Just done a 2 nighter

1st night on a relatively new lake to me, arrived about 4.30pm and had a wander round the lake. Decided on swim and got rods out then set up house. This lake I would class as EASY... so as you have probably guessed, I blanked on the 1st night :? Chad rung to say he was going to do the night on another lake so I thought I might aswell up sticks and join him for a little social. I was 1st at the lake so picked the swim LOL Chad arrived around an hour later. Rods out and we are hopeful of a run or 2 But nothing apart from 2 barries cripes! 6am and I'm rudley awakened with my right hand alarm screaming at me Out the bag like rat up a drain pipe and I'm into a carp. This charater is soon on the mat and Chad does his "Lichfield" (He is good for something ).

17LB 3OZ, think its a recapture from last month

Finished up with 5 barries and the 1 carp

4 barries to my home mades and the carp and 1 barrie to the sweet corn boilie

Did a day session today with Chad :?

We (I) decided on an early start so picked Chad up at 5.30am, arrived at the lake around 6ish and soon had the rods set up and on the spots Wasn't too long I had a screamer of a run, lifted into the rod and nothing there Anyway, recast and about an hour later the same rod is off again, this time there is something on the end

Resulting in this 11.04lb, not a biggie but a stunner alright

Recast and around 2 hrs later the same rod is off again, another mirror is responsible at bang on 12lb. No picture taken as it wasn't in the best of condition

The suns beating down now and to be honest I thought that was it but around 1pm my other rod is off Another scrap worthy of a fish twice it's size and this finds its way onto the mat

At 12.07lb my biggest of the day, but again another good looker.

3.30pm and we call it a day (work tomorrow and an important footy match tonight ) Just as I'm packing everything away my rod is off again with a scraper double coming in, didn't weigh it as the scales etc had been packed away.

Thanks to Chad for doing his Lichfield again, I'll let him tell ya what he had

RESULTS 2 to the home mades and 2 to the Sweet corn

Did another day session today with Chad, decided on a later start than usual as Chad needed to catch up some beauty sleep (It didn't work cripes!  ) Arrived at the lake around 8am and the wind was blowing down towards the end of the lake we were at. That made an easy decsion as the carp in this lake do tend to follow a warm wind so we set up and have the rods out. Usual tactics 1 rod on home mades and 1 on the CH sweet corn. Not too long and Chads into a fish, and then another  After around 3 hrs I get my 1st run, and a single comes in. Nothing for another hourish so I decide to move my left hand rod to a marginal reed bed. Within 20 minutes I'm inot my 2nd fish of the day only for it to shed the hook Recast and not too long a wait and the same rod is in again, have this fish on a little longer and yet again it somehow sheds the hook I can't remember the last time I lost 2 fish in one session. Check the rig out and there doesn't seem anything wrong but decide to change it anyway. Recast to the spot and walk round and chuck around 40 sweet corns in, 15 mins and I'm in again to this rod  the result was a 13.07lb mirror Recast and its not in the rest long and it's off again.  This goes on for the next 1 1/2 hrs where I have 3 more fish all on the same rod, without a single bleep on the home mades

Biggest coming in at 0lb

I'm moaning to Chad how all my action seems to be on the one rod and 10 minutes later the other rod is off  Couldn't believe it when this appears

4.02lb Chub  :?

Recast and again this rod isn't in too long before it's off again Around 5pm I have a screamer on the home mades rod, playing that and I couldn't believe it but my other rod is off on a one toner too   So Chad is called for assistance (Thanks mate) I get mine in and hope the other one isn't bigger, mine weighs in at 15.07lb and once Chad has got the other in it weighs in at 16.06lb  cuckoo!  After this mental 2 or 3 hrs it goes quiet for me and not long before packing up I'm in again

At bang on 17.00lb my 2nd biggest of the day. A recapture of a fish I had earlier in the year.

All in all, the weather / conditions were perfect for fishing and a great day was had.

Chad had a few too

Final tally was

8.12lb
13.07lb
9.14lb
10.11lb
17.08lb
11.06lb
12.09lb
15.07lb
17.00lb

Lessons learnt today

DON'T GO FISHING AFTER A NIGHT ON THE BEER

Go fishing today, arrive at the lake

FORGOT COAT
FORGOT CAMERA
LEFT FLASK OF COFFEE AT HOME

cuckoo! cuckoo! cuckoo! cuckoo!

I nearly came home immediately but thought I'd stick it out for a few hours, rods cast and I have the shivers (Beer and a cold wind without a coat do not mix) after a couple of hours I have a run resulting in a mirror around the 10lb mark, put that back and recast. Nothing for 2 hrs and I'm thinking of packing up when my right hand rod signals a take Only a pastie but welcome none the less.

After 5 hours I decide enough is enough so pack up to get home and warm up and try and recover from a hang over 8)

Going out tomorrow for another day session

Did a short session today, arrived around 8am and fished until 3.30pm. To be honest I wasn't feeling too confident as the weather recently has been very irratic but still it was better than staying at home. Both rods out and within an hour I'm in

Coming in at 0lb oz a very welcome visitor to the bank

Recast and it's not too long before the same rod is off again, resulting in a lovely looking mirror at 9lb 8oz. It all goes quiet for a while and then my right hand rod bursts into life and we have another mirror on the mat weighing in at 11lb 8oz.

All in all an extremely enjoyable session was had.

Thanks to Chad for doing his "Lichfield"

Another short session today with the Chadster

Arrived at the lake around 7.30am and we decided on our swims, Chad won the toss and grabbed a new world record in deciding what swim he wanted..........only 1 1/2hrs today

Set up the gear etc and then put the kettle on.

Had this for my morning view

I decided to go on the heavy side of feeding (for me anyway) and put around a kilo of bait around 1 rod and then usual tactics on the other, pva bag plus about 30/40 boilies pulted in. Nothing showing except the odd roach etc, the sun soon burnt off the morning mist, after around 5 hours my left hand rod signals a take Out my chair faster than Chad out the pub when it's his round LOL and I'm in A nice scrap and Chad does the honours of the netting and picture

At 15lb 6oz not the biggest in the lake but welcome all the same

Just packing up around 5pm and my right hander signals............... a bloomin Barrie

A mate of mine doesn't fish but his 10yr old lad wants to go so he's asked me to take him. We've been a few times just for a couple of hrs at a time. Today we went and arrived at the lake, had the whole place to ourselves, 1st cast and he catches the tiniest perch I've ever seen cripes! a few more bites but he struggled with the rod etc so I swap places with him and 1st cast I stick it in a tree Float lost boohoo Reset up and go to put my tackle box down but drop it, breaking another float boohoo Nothing else for us but the lad did enjoy himself

Better than my floats did :?

Well, the drought has at last come to an end

Arrived at the lake and was set up for around 7.45am, 1 on CH Sweet Corn and 1 on HBS Pukka Pineapple popup From the off I was getting the odd bleep and liners and so confidence was high. About 10.30am and my left hand rod signals a take and I'm in A bit of a scrap and soon we have a scraper double on the mat, it weighed in at 11lb on the nose, not the biggest in the lake but a welcome visitor all the same Recast and about another hour and the same rod is off again, this results in this stunner, weighing in at 12lb 5oz. Who cares how big they are when they look like this

Another day session with Chaddy

Arrived at the lake 1st light and was soon set up in the same swim as last time. Slightly diff tactics as I have invested in some UCN Moonfruit, so it was 1 rod on the Moonfruit and 1 on the ever reliable Sweet Corn boilies

Not too long a wait and this is on the mat weighing in at 14lb 5oz

An hour later and the same rod is off again, this time resulting in a high single

Recast and about 30 mins later the same rod is off again and after a spirited fight I have this beaut kissing the spreader block, coming in at 18lb 6oz my biggest of the day

No more carp for me but I did manage a chub around the 3lb mark, that's the second chub I've had out of there, not bad as I didn't know there was any in there

Results 3 carp to the sweet corn and the chub to the Moonfruit

Another day session done by the intrepid duo today

We arrived at the lake and to be honest we couldn't decide where to fish. Do we go in the same swims we have recent success and can have an easy social or go our seperate ways so to speak. Well folks, I may have the new answer to you choosing that extremely difficult swim Flip a coin

So, the choice was, heads we go in to the usaul swims or tails we go in 2 other swims on the lake. Chad flips the coin and it's a head so we go in the usual We get to the swim but then have the dilemma of who fishes which side so out comes the coin again. Heads I'm on the right, tails I'm on the left Heads again so I'm soon setting up in the swim I've fished for the last 3 sessions on there

Rods in and the kettle goes on, it doesn't have time to boil and my right hander signals a take, out the chair quicker than a Scousers hand in yer wallet, and I'm into a fish It doesn't feel too big and is soon at the bankside and it's a chub Just about to net it and it slips the hook. Recast and get the kettle back on. After numerous bleeps and a few hours my right hand rod is off A spirited fight from this and eventually Chad slides the net under this baby, coming at 17lb 10oz I was well happy.

An hour later and my right hand rod is off again, and this just doesn't feel right and the result is another Chub Some of you may think this lake has a few chub in it, but I've fished the lake for around 6 years now and have caught 4 chub out of it. 3 of them in my last 2 sessions, so it's a little mind boggling.

No more fish for me but I did do a "Lichfield" for Chaddy so will let him spill the beans on that
