Long Shank HooksHaving just spent a week in France I noticed a lot of people were using long shank hooks. Do you use long shanks? Without going into specific manufacturers why do you use them?
Personally I prefer a wide gape style as I believe they have better hooking potential but obviously long shanks have been around for years, what's your opinion on them?

I use longshanks when making an anti-eject rig, plus you can also wrap lead wire around the shank when fishing a pop up!

Long shanks are very good for hit and hold situations because the general shape holds fish better than a wide gape style hook

More shank length = more movement of the bait without moving the hook IMO
