i arrived at about 7.45 and saw that there was a cold wind bashing into the corner were the entrance is, so i quickly made tracks to the other end of the lake so i was on the back of the wind almost, this peg is always a hot peg whatever the weather! So i quickly set up (being diastracted once in a while by showing fish)my gear and thought about were to place my rigs, i decided to put my left hand rod on to the main feature of this swim, a big overhanging willow on the far bank which is usually a hot spot. My right hand rod was to be placed just before an underwater wall which seperates the ornamental side from the fishing side (and may i add that a lot of fish have moved over the wall when the water level has risen), both rods were on ordinary carp company caviar and cranberry bottom baits dipped in a lobworm glug by SBS baits and a pva bag of mixed particles and crushed boilies was attached also. 2 hours passed with a few bleeps but no action, i decided to recast my right hand rod, the bait was dipped in the glug again and i put it just before the wall again, hoping some fish were hugging up against the wall! It was 1o'clock and i'd still no fish to my name, what was happening? Another hour passed and it started to rain, great! I decided to bring the right hand rod in because i was sure there was fish in the area but the rig might of been laying funny. I attatched a caviar and cranberry pop-up and dipped in nutmeg (i brought it with me to try it out!), another crushed boilie bag was attatched and put, again, just before the wall. 10 minutes later and the right hand rod is away, trying to stop going over the wall i gave it a little stick and she was soon wallowing in front of me, and..... YES she's in the net! I lifted her onto the mat and saw a beatiful common laying there, she was only small, maybe 6lb but what a lovely looking fish, She was scale perfect! After some pictures i quickly slipped her back and she went off to fight another day, 1 to the nutmeg! The rod was equipped with the same proceedre as before and another 10 minutes later the same rod is away again. another bit of pressure was applied and i soon had her in the net, lifting her onto the mat i saw it was another gorgeous looking common, a little smaller than the first at maybe 5lb but it was still a nice fish. I slipped her back and put the rod back out as same as before, i thought i would persevere wit the bottom bait on one rod and see what happened. Half an hour later the right hand rod is away again,They like this nutmeg! This fish came upto the surface quickly but fought it's heart out under the tip, But she was soon in the net and lifting her onto the mat i saw she was the biggest fish of the day and another common. She was a proper warrior, a really dark fish with half a dorsal fin and a few scales missing, she was about 9lb and i quickly slipped her back because the camera battery had gone! It was soon getting dark and i decided to pack up, 3 to the nutmeg! I will certainly will be bring the grounded nut meg again!
