Bammer

PeteB

Yes... Any ideas why it works??  cripes!
maple

because its high in vitamin c ?
The Hunter's Moon

It also contains vits A, B ,E , minerals as well as sulphur compounds, Also Allicin which from memory acts as some sort of antioxidant    but is unstable & maybe an enzyme

All I know is that I hate the smell of the stuff especially on the train in the morning

Pete,
       Germanium??????????      cripes!
maple

i think i read somewhere , that the enzyme in garlic ,has the same sort of effects as viagra  cripes!  LOL
PeteB

Vitamins A & E are useful to a carp, B & C are readily available to carp from other sources.... What about pH???

Mr Broughton......Are you playing

kind regards jEFF
56K Natas

Garlic works because it tastes good , some things are as simple as that.
If you had something with garlic in it could you tell me what vitamins it had in it just by taste alone ???
I really don't think a carp can ...
lucilastic

Alliin.....or natural Sugars...
The Hunter's Moon

Jaffa,
Pete always likes to torture the mind  boohoo

Pete,
P/h change seems to play a part in the outcome & reduction of………      cripes!

Luci,

blondie

Brendon
I don’t think he has tortured us enough yet!!!!!!!    LOL  LOL
Have a look at what the fish feed industry use it for & it doesn’t seem to have much to do with taste    cripes!
Possibly Natures answer to Chloramphenicol
As for the p/H thing I have an idea     but I could well be wrong as is usually the case  LOL  LOL

Interesting reading if you have some spare time...  LOL

Hunter... you may well be right...

Sugars... Lucy, you are such a sweet thing..  cripes!  LOL  LOL

Taste... carp do not have the luxury of allowing themselves to like/dislike a certain taste, they are basic creatures with food/non food decisions, what it tastes of is largely immaterial...  anyone disagreeing with this statement is welcome to join me in a bloodworm and silt sandwich... LOL  LOL  LOL  LOL

pH is a bit of a red herring in the case of Garlic though as it is best used within an acidic environment.... try mixing it 30:70 with cayenne pepper...
blondie

it does seem to have good benefits to carp.it promotes growth, helps in the digestion of bait and a natural antibiotic against desease.30 grams per kilo seems to be about the right level.does the decrease in lipids in the body when using garlic have any effect?.hope fully ive read it right pete .cheers.steve
PeteB

A good additive in fishmeal/oil glugged baits? YES... similar to adding increased levels of Vit E....

Balance in a bait... very important...

Some ingredients we use are harmful to fish in excess, balance that with the correct 'antidote' (for want of a better word) and you have a perfectly safe bait..... cripes!

'health food' for carp.... cripes!
blondie

codlivine.a great  oil and garlic combined .cheers.steve
lucilastic

"IMMUNOSTIMULANT".....

Reaches parts other baits can't reach...

  wakeup

Brendon

Pete

at what levels would the 30:70 ration would you recommend per kilo??? 15:50 grammes???

Is the garlic essential oil a worthwhile additive or is the granular version the most effective??
PeteB

40 - 60 gm per kilo would be about right... dependent on pH of the water...
Brendon

Cheers Pete
Mrmoo

Lets put it into an understandable format as my mate Pete tends to complicate things due to his over active brain!(meaning he is a tad too clever)

I have found that combining 10ozs of cayene pepper or extra hot chilli powder with 4ozs of garlic powder the optimum combination.these amounts are used in a 14kg batch of basemix.Simple arithmatic should give you the desired amount for lesser amounts fellas
