Fishermans' Blues - Sunday Oct' 6thJust a quick note to say that both Chilly and I will be guests on Keith Arthurs early morning radio show Sun Oct 5th.
(Fishermans Blues Talksport 1089/1053 AM Sat/Sun 0600-0800hrs)
Fishermans Blues is essentially an angling related talk show that invites discussion from its listeners via email, text or phone.
Keith has kindly offered this opportunity for ECHO to begin to open debate amongst the national angling population on various issues and ECHO hopes that as many of you as possible will be listening in and it would be really useful to hear from a few of you too.

Good luck Richard, and thanks for reminding me about “Fishermans Blues”
I do enjoy listening to the said programme, but if not on the bank or up at that time, I tend to forget its on.
If there’s some members on here that think they’d like to listen but will not be up at that hour.
Why not record it, and listen later?

Sorry Ron, it's me copy and pasting Ruth's post on another forum, so that as many people that wish to tune in, can do so!
Just spreading the word!

Beaky, you was never up at that time of day!!
I thought Ruth & Chilly came across very well, but imo just a shame there wasn’t more questions asked in a 2 hour show?
Interesting question, if we as anglers want an organization to fight for us.
How do we fund it…
Them that want it join and be a member? about £20
Opted-out system £2
Mandatory £2 with rod licence?
any thoughts

Regarding Angling Unity as it will be known, here are Ruth Lockwoods thoughts, which I've ripped from another forum for you Ghost. She is involved with the process as the Vice-Chairman for the the SAA (as well as currently being the chairman for ECHO!)
"Lots of debate about Angling Unity progress [on Keith Arthur's show] and not so much about ECHO, but air time and Keiths discussions are always directed by the callers.
Full details are soon to be announced of the unification of ACA, SAA, NFA, NAFAC & NFSA, to be known as the Angling Trust.
On this subject, I too have voiced reservations about the enthusiastic membership targets that the new Angling Trust has based their worthy concept on.
From the perspective of the SAA, the committee believes the merger itself will ultimately be a positive move, but has reservations if the SAA's level of lobbying can be achieved through the Angling Trust without continued reliance on the current voluntary resources.
The key will be to highlight the need for a sustainable income stream for an effective and professional body to represent angling in the future.
I would like to see the Angling Trust seek support and funding from the angling industry to run a successful campaign for a levy on rod licence sales in the future and hope that anglers will choose to join them in that direction."
