Fen Drayton complex, other lakes?

I know there is one or two people here who have a Fen ticket, we all know about the main Fen pit but what about the other lakes on the complex that are on the Fen ticket.
Any info on ?

How many other lakes?
Size of lakes?
Known stock?
Difficulty?
Busyness?

Any info will be appreciated
Thanks MM

Cheers in advance MM

twitchers.....im guessing bird watchers

Theres BIG fish in ALL of those waters mate
Cambs Carper

You get one other lake to fish on the fen ticket, swavesey which from what i understand is a bit easyer than fen but still hard. Thats all i know about swavesy. Thats the only lake other lake you get on the fen ticket.
carpmanjay

in the nature reserve lake which is behind the car park swim on fen there are rumored to be a couple of lumps, and i have personaly seen fish upto 35lb ish in there on the shallows, although strictly no fishing, the bird watchers will ping you str8 away..

there is some big fish in the reserve to the left as you srive down the path before the gate. a ceartain angler has had some good lumps out of there. and yeh there are bird watchers, but if you dress up like one and walk around with the reciever in your pocket your nearly sorted! 8)

Everyone says there are bigguns in the nature reserve pits but, there isnt any bigguns really yes there are nice fish mid 30's but not much bigger fen has the whackers for some reason, ferry has one or two gooduns. And there is alot more people fishing the reserves than you lot think
Myles_Robinson

I think you need to have a better look at them then, or your polaroids must reduce the sizes of fish!

the reason why you said ferry has only got one or 2 good ones in is that its closed shop! its unknown really mate, same as fen, its not that lightly stocked, just only the same ones get caught...and thats sometimes over 9 year like the grey fish
Cambs Carper

And how often do you look round these pits mate? how local are you?
I am 10  minutes down the road from the pits and walk them all alot, and ferry isnt a closed shop if you know the right people. As for the other pits you seem to think have huge fish in well they may do but the amount of people who will agree with me would say other wise.
Fen has alot of biguns this is due to how close it is to the ouse and it is one of the oldest pits there. Ferry has several lumps in it but only one or two have been caught. The others well they aint whackers compared to fen's whackers as i have said  there are good fish in them but not as big as fen's fish.

How local are you mate then? How many times do you walk these pits, or are you going on what others tell you?
Myles_Robinson

dont take it personally geezer!

well, as you said you are ten mins away, so you must know more  LOL
Cambs Carper

I know alot more i just aint gonna say it all on a public forum  LOL

Ferry has more big fish in than Fen does and they get caught you just dont hear about it.
There are loads of big carp in the reservs too, I spent best part of 3 yrs on Fen and spent a lot of time looking at the reserves.
DONT fish them though lads it will mess it up for all the wtares on the complex!!

cambs-carper , do you fish any of these   ?
or do you just walk round them talking to blokes fishing them ???
Cambs Carper

The only one i claim to know anything about is fen.
I dont fish any of these ones, i am getting my info on ferry and the others from a good mate who fishes on ferry and fen.
How ever i am on a complex of pits just basically next to these ones.

And no i dont go walking round talking to random anglers, most of my "info" is off the same guy a good mate.
maple

so you dont fish them then , then perhaps you wont be so quick to pull people up  who also dont fish them , but are trying to help .....in the future ?
Cambs Carper

I spent the best part of 3 yrs on Fen also on far fen and scouts lake.
Most sesions 3 days per week.
I know almost all of the anglers on them and have an imprint of the lakes topograhy in my head, having spent countless hours in the boat, most of the sessions where spent alone on 90 acres sheer bliss!!!

Lost 6 carp from Fen and had 3 from Far Fen including the biggest.
moved of Far Fen now for personal reasons and have gone back onto Fen.

I feal lucky this year.

best of luck tom
