1500hrs The ECHO Charity Cup Now in its 3rd year, the ECHO Charity Cup is the brainchild of footie mad Steve Fantauzzi (YAC/Thinking Anglers). The ECHO Charity Cup is a quick fire 5 aside tournament in aid of Stoney & Friends who have raised in excess of £250,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support through angling related events. ECHO is very proud to support Stoney and Friends by hosting this unique event and hopes that next year’s tournament will be well supported and just as much fun! DHP will be returning to defend their title, the Macmillan Nurses are in training and the Thinking Anglers team are no doubt talking tactics already! Anyone interested in entering a team to February's tournament should express their interest via echocarp@hotmail.com or pick up info and application pack from the Thinking Anglers stand at the Sandown Winter Carp Show during the last weekend in November. 1800hrs Annual General Meeting Chairman’s update, matters arising, committee elections, membership feedback etc. Member’s attendance is encouraged where possible this year as the current committee steps down after their 3 year term. All applicants for officer’s positions and motions for consideration at the AGM should be submitted via email or post by Jan 31st 2009. 1900hrs Annual Celebrations The classic ECHO winter social and the chance to learn a little bit more about the organisation and its achievements. Featuring a uniquely entertaining Slide show, presentation of ECHO Cup & ECHO stone & mega raffle in aid of Stoney & Friends. Free admission to members, non-members £5 on the door after 1800hrs. It has been confirmed that Mike Wilson will give a slide show after the AGM. This is an opportunity to re-visit Savay, as Mike wanders through his private photograph collections and shares his memories of carp fishing with the audience.
I recently saw some of Mike's slide show and I can honestly say that I am really excited regarding having a second opportunity to see one of fishing's true gentleman tell the audience a part of carping history, that is as wonderfully told, as I'm sure it was undoubtedly exciting to be involved in at the time! Mike fished for a number of years on Savay until 1981 and I can assure you that this show is an absolute must if you have just an ounce of nostalgia for the sport we all love. I personally can't wait, it is a must see! Richard |
