Credibility?

Leading on from the age old Benson saga. Do you think that named anglers give credibility to none pukka fish/waters, by catching them and publicising the catches/venues?

kind regards Jeff

It does depend on tour own personal definition of 'Pukka', boy do I hate that word.... I would wager that 100% of fish in the UK over 55lb were NOT born here, the revered and much sought after fish of yesteryear (Mary, Bazil and the like) were certainly KRB imports, as I am 99% certain Two Tone is... in my eyes they are 'proper carp' as they were imported at 6 - 12lb or so...

Credibility is a personal thing, Jeff,  look back at the stocking records of the very famous fisheries you are in and then tell me how many really big fish in them comply with the current vogue of describing a fish as 'born' (spawned) in the UK'?? If you are unsure of 'dealer' supplied fish I have info on some... LOL

NO
some of those none pukka (i also hate this word lol )fish were stolen from waters abroad , some even from our own waters ,
so what does that say ,
when a named angler sets out to catch and publicise these fish ?
to me , it says , dont have any morals in your fishing ,
dont worry about other anglers , who might have targetted these fish in there native waters , dont worry about the truck loads of fish that dont make it through customs and are destroyed or the amount of suffering they endure in this terrible process ,because hey some will get through , and thats what counts .
imo named angler have a moral obligation to show angling in a much better light , instead of just prostituting thereselves to the hghest bidder ,the magazines are just as bad , running adverts for known waters and paying for articles etc , there the madams  and if you buy into it , your just the sad punters  Mwraahaha

thats better

either way, I don't think chastising any angler who chooses to target such fish isn't really fair, like they are responsible.

weather you moved the fish or not , means nothing, if you know the fish are dodgy , it makes you just as bad .
its simple really , if people dont fish these waters , then there will be no demand ,of course there will always be the odd grey area ..
like that well known cambs water , that has one dodgy french fish , you cant expect people not to fish for the other 99% of clean fish .

But then aren't quite a few of the remaining 99% origins unknown ? well in terms of what part of England they came from and which lake !!
