Chad's Dangling ReportWell, here it is folks, I have finally decided to take the plunge and start up my own catch report. This follows constant nagging from both Mac and the missus.
Got a few days off work so Mac & I decided to fish a local club water, which I hadn't fished before. I had heard reports that it can be a hard water to fish but nevertheless we decided to give it a go.
So Wednesday night we went up to do a bit of pre-baiting. We picked 2 pegs next to each other on a point, for the sociable aspect, which was between 2 islands, one of them being a floating island. We tossed the coin and the "fickle finger of fate" went Mac's way once again. He chose the larger island, leaving me with the smaller floating island. I picked my 2 spots and pre-baited with them with about a kilo of Carp Hunter Baits Sweetcorn Boilies & half a kilo of Carp Company's Icelandic Red.
Thursday morning I awoke to rain. Turning on Sky Sports weather, it forecasted more heavy rain for the rest of the day but brightening up for Friday. Mac came to pick me up and we thought should we go fishing or to the pub . The fishing won
On arriving at the lake we found the surrounding fields to be about an inch under water and so with it heavily "persisting" it down we decided to just take our rods & brollies for the time being & return for our other tackle later. I fished 1 rod on Carp Hunter Sweetcorn and the other on Ice Red. Less than an hour into the fishing Mac caught his first a really nice looking mirror. An hour or so passed and Mac is into his second fish but still no sign of any fish for me. As the rain got harder and the wind stronger my brolly decided to take flight across the lake. Like "two bullets from a gun" Mac & I took chase as it landed in the lake and started to sink, because of our "cat like" reactions we managed to catch it before it completely sunk. Not a great start to the trip for me but Mac still continued to catch. At last the rain stopped and Thursday evening ended like this:

At 3am I had a screaming run, which resulted in a 13lb 5oz common. I retired back to my pit for another hour, my alarms rudely wake me again and this time after a long sluggish fight it resulted in a new personal PB, which makes me a member of the 20lb club (which I have been waiting to become a member of for so long). A very fat-bellied 21lb 2oz mirror (caught on Carp Hunter Sweetcorn boilie).

All goes quiet until about 11am Friday, when the next run leads to another new Common PB of 16lb. Spend the rest of Friday trying to dry out my clothes and tackle. Friday night Mac pops to the local Chinese and off licence for food and beer to celebrate my entrance into the 20lb club. Retire to bed once we are fed and watered and we are awoken at 4.30am by a screaming one toner, which resulted in yet another Common PB of 17lb 4oz

No more carp and at 10am we decide to pack up and head home to our good ladies.
All in all an excellent 48 hour session (apart from the rain) but the brilliant company made up for that , which resulted in 3 new PB's and my entry into the 20lb club.
Also had 5 Barrys all around 5-6lb mark

Firstly, thanks for the congrats chaps.
Got back earlier today from another 24 hour session on one of my local club waters, with Mac. We were hoping to fish 2 new pegs this time but on arriving at the lake at about 11.30am, most of the pegs were taken up by the noddy anglers so we ended up fishing the 2 pegs we fished on our 48 hour stint last week.
We tossed for choice of pegs and this time the fickle finger of fate fell Chaddy's way . I chose the right hand peg, which Mac had fished last time. The difference in weather in just a few days was unbelievable, last weeks session seemed to be the wettest of the year and this weeks seemed to be the hottest!!
Same tactics as before, 1 rod on Ice Red & the other on Carp Hunter Baits Sweetcorn. Both rods were in the water for just gone 2pm and with the bright sunshine I wasn't feeling very confident about catching but as the sun got lower in the sky my confidence was growing until I saw a full moon appearing on the opposite horizon, which dampened my confidence because from past experiences I have never seemed to do any good when there is a clear sky with a full moon. I retired to my pit at about 11pm and my suspicions were correct as I never heard a thing until Mac rudely awoke me at about 4.30am-ish. This fish was giving Mac a right good run around and when I slipped the net underneath it we couldn't believe the size of it as it only weighed in at 12lb (it must have been on the droids).
After returning the fish, Mac got the kettle on (for a change ) and we had a chin wag until about 5am when my right hand rod screamed off and after a scrappy fight it was another PB Common in the net, weighing in at 19lb 14oz, which fell to Carp Hunter Baits Sweetcorn
(Brilliant photo Mac, those lessons I have been giving you are really beginning to pay off)
No more fish and around 11am we packed up. Yet another enjoyable session with good company and another PB comman.

Did a day session yesterday with the big fella.(mac)
The perfect chance to try out my newly won CHB Bloodworm boilies. The tactics for the day were Bloodworm boilies on one rod and Sweetcorn boilies both tipped with plastic corn. It wasn't long before I had my first screamer of a run, which resulted in a 6oz carp . Not the lump I was hoping for but a real good looking fish all the same.
The trap was reset and it wasn't long before the buzzers were singing out again, resulting in a 12lber. Back out with the bait again and another quick pick up resulting in yet another 12lber.
4 hours later and my last fish of the day, which turned out to be the best fish of the day, weighing in at 17lb 2oz, which made me Top Rod for the day ..... again
SCORE: 3-1 to the Sweetcorn boilies

Managed to sneek in another day session in yesterday on one of my club waters.
Eventually arrived at the lake after waiting for Mac to do his hair & makeup , just in case he got the chance to pose for any trophy shots.
Usual tactics were applied, Sweetcorn boilies on one rod and bloodworm on the other, both tipped with plastic corn. The sweetcorn rod was cast out to a rod length off one of the islands and the bloodworm rod was put into the margins. It wasn't long before I was into my first fish of the day from my margin rod, resulting in a 14lb 14oz mirror.
Reset the trap and within about 30 minutes I was into another, this time to the sweetcorn. I don't want to bore you with all the details but over the course of the day the runs were constant resulting in a final total of a 10 fish haul.
14lb 14oz
13lb 3oz
12lb 10oz
14lb 10oz
13lb 8oz
11lb
13lb 6oz
A not so common, weighing in at 14lb 4oz
12lb 7oz
13lb 2oz
Result - 7-3 to the bloodworm

Got another short session in today on one of my local club waters, seeing as I start back to work tomorrow. On arriving at the lake it had a very autumnal look and feel to it, even Leo was having a winge about the cold wind.
Both rods were in for just after 8am, usual tactics, CBH Bloodworm on one rod and Sweetcorn on the other, both tipped with plastic corn.
It wasn't long before Mac was into a fish and I went to give him a hand with the netting and to do my "Lichfield" bit for him. As I was having a slow wander back to my rods my margin rod screamed off, resulting in a lovely looking 12lb 10oz mirror.
Fifteen minutes later and the same rod is off again. After a couple of minutes doing battle, my other rod rips off, so I give Mac a shout for assistance. Whilst playing the fish, the usual banter from Mac "what if this fish is a 20lber?". Luckily for me though, my fish was the bigger, which was a re-capture of a fish caught 16 days ago. Today it weighed in at 17lb 6oz whereas the last time it was on the bank it weighed in at 17lb 2oz, a gain of 4oz in 16 days .... obviously, someone has been eating his 3 Shredded Wheat a day ready for winter.
The rest of the day was very slow going with just another 12lber on the bank but a most enjoyable day out in the fresh air.

Did a short day session yesterday on a local club water. It was a lovely fresh autumn morning, not quite as cold as Thursday but we there was stila touch of ground frost, which soon burnt off in the morning sun.
l
Usual tactics, CHB Sweetcorn boilies on one rod and Firstblood on the other, both tipped with plastic corn. Both rods in the water for just gone 7.30am. It wasn't until 11.00am that I had my first sign of a fish, a drop back, which then turned into a one toner and after a long scrap under the rod tip. Mac did the honours with the net, which resulted in a lovely 18lb 4oz common.
Rod cast back out to the mark and time for a brew. Another hour passes and I'm then into another fish, this one, the biggest of the day, another great lookin common weighing in at 19lb 5oz.
No more fish but a great day on the bank in the fresh air.
2-0 to the sweetcorn
