Carp Cradles

I've just done a session at Cuttle Mill fishery and they supplied these instead of unhooking mats. Personally I've never seen them before but did like the idea of them, stopping the carp from flipping off the mat has to be a good idea doesn't it?

I didn't get to try it out due to me blanking but my mate tried it twice and said they were easy to use.

Any thoughts?
Scotfins

Dont like the look of it Mark, too many hard bits and looks prone to tipping over with a lively carp in there.....and doesn't look like it could be kept moist enough. And awkward to get a fish from net to that..If fish are cradled and covered by the angler its very rare a carp flips off the mat...
The Carpinator

dont like the look of it for the same reasons as scotfins
bigkipper

i don`t like the look of it eather.....

do you weigh them in it to, the dangers of transferring fish from net to that and then from that to a sling.

some lake owners have some funny idea`s  cripes!

can you use your own mat if you want or do you have to use this thing.?

it`s not april fools day is it.....

You had to use them Kips, we were told to leave our mats in the car.

I had all the reservations you lot have posted but once I saw them used they weren't too bad. They were very solid and I would be very surprised if one tipped over if a fish decided to go mental. As for weighing what we did was lay our mat on top of the cradle, did the unhooking then lifted the mat/fish together

I haven't seen any "big" fish in them (30lb plus) but the fish I did see I was converted.........halllelullllllllyahhhhhhhhhhhh

I cannot see way anyone cannot stop a carp flipping off a mat if you looking after it.

Going by that photo Mac it don’t look that deep, but I think it may give the impression to anglers that the carp is safe in there, and may leave it unattended to get they’re camera.
I think there’s more chance of a carp flipping out of there than off a mat.

Not being funny Mac but did they tell you how to use it?
Cos I don’t think id feel good about trying to get the carp back out of there.
