bottom rig. need your help guys,i am fishing a fairly silty mere, will be trying uncoated and coated braids 8" or so, with a small pva mesh bag on the hook for attraction, semi fixed lead, and leadcore,( only 2 oz leads allowed,) hoping to avoid tangles, but my question is this ,after you have cast in and your lead has hit bottom, do you straigten out your hook length, or do you leave it ? i know the chod rig works , but i want to use crushed baits in the bag, no other feed, 1 bite tacticts. your thoughts please.

if you want to make sure your hooklink sits straight, maybe try tying a thin twig onto it with pva tape, helicopter your rig with enough distance between beads so the rig can move up without being pulled under, and then when the tape melts the rig is left straight?
but to be honest, theres nothing wrong with your rig being bent or coiled, think of a cobra ready to strike but if your using coated braid this wont really happen anyway.
but yeah that sounds pretty spot on if your wanting to use a bottom bait rig in thick silt
