5000tsjust had a propper play with these, and to be honest i was very surprised, they were shocking
not balanced at all, loads of play in the handle, cluch takes a life time to tighten,
and in reality very out dated,
so why do so many people use em, i know they are hard as nails and never give up, but surely there are better reels out there....
is it the hearn factor

hahaha like [censored]. how do you define 'balanced', what aload of tosh.
clutch tightens in one turn for me from a decent free spool setting. but then again i fish lakes heaving with weed and snags so i dont like em to run far.
the reason soo many have, and still love tournies is the fact they will last forever, the clutch is ultra smooth and they dont look like the modern crap that blinds you at first sight and breaks every 5 minutes..
and tel boy uses ss3000's, what i would do for a set of them bad boys.

My dad has the tournies, solid reels superb clutch. As for the 'hearn factor' as you put it get real people just like quality gear, you about the first or second person ive ever heard complain about the reels

the same as cambs in the fact that your the first person ive ever heard to bad "mouth them" from what ive seen there a quality reel and alot of people would love a set

i know, i have only heard good things about them,
thatswhy i was so surprised about it,.
unless it was a dead old display modle that had been battered and was a dogey one i duno...
but it didnt feel anything special

THE ONLY REASON IS BECAUSE THEY ARE CULT.
hence why iv had 3 of em, now i have a set of original ss3000's.
theyr just a nice dull reel compared to all the shiny magpie attractor shimanos and daiwas out there. i cannot stand shiny reels etc so i have these reels. they look far better also haha.
