Thanks Steve

Very exciting times with our carp farming business. harvesting like mad at the moment and to see customers beaming when their fish arrives makes it all worth while.

Guys and Gals feel free to have a look and if you have any questions then please droop us a line or give one of us a shout.

Saul,
Hi fella...did that chap sort you with the fish etc...???? lots of things happened with the old site last year and he said he would get them upto you.

Blimey PeteB - now we shall have many conversations about all things carpy as ever. As for some big fiish pete we have already sowed the seeds so to speak..... our best fish now 43lbs and born in 1999. Nearly 3ft long and as pretty as can be. New sandhurst record one of teh strain i use as well so going well.

Just spawned a batch of fish by crossing two strains that have me and simon very no VERY excited by their prospects for the future

Hi Viv,

Hope you are keeping well...

43 in 8 years, that is going some.. nice to see they are growing lenghtways and not just down... LOL

My only concern with extremely fast growing carp is how long they live.. generally those that grow very fast die early and you end up with lifespans of 20 years or less as a norm... cripes! I have always been a fan of the Royales from France... not particularly fast at getting to really big weights, but they get there in the end and stick around for years...

How do you think your carp will fare on the lifespan front?

Hi Pete,

I know your concerns and share them about longevity.... thats what we are striving for with our fish. The example i gave was of fish that are unfished for in a gravel pit (well until this year) and have done that on natural food. I cant stop them growing that quick if they want to...lol

The broodstock that we are using are now reaching into their 20s years wise and still growing steadily. They also come from a very long lived strain that  has been around for a number of genrations. We cross strains to get the vigour in growth but this should not mean that their lifespan is affected negatiively infact it should be the reverse if you follow the science.

If anyone is interested we have just finished our C4 harvest and pics of a few of the fish will be available on our website later on today. Please excuse the dullness of the shots but we had to wear head torches at midday to see the fish through the rain.......

Thanks Rich and Jaffa.

Exciting times with expansion plans which means we will hopefully be bringing  more of our fish to a fishery near you soon.

Final ponds to harvest and deliver in january so will have a few more shots then.  Will be producing our first news letter as we finish the harvest and if you would like to be emailed a copy please feel free to drop me a line via the contacts page on the site. Just click the 'mailing list' box when you send it.

Regards

Viv

Good call Rich, and I'm sure that discerning anglers will eventually dictate what fish are stocked into lakes, as they will surely vote with their feet...

If most anglers did that, it would force others to stock better quality fish... the quality of fish we all want and the sport deserves.

Wise words Steve. For years I have been saying the answer lies with the angler, who really needs to vote with there feet

kind regards Jeff

Viv, I want some of them

Rich...u want my job.. so do i.....well hopefully i will be full time there soon if the business keeps going like it is at the moment. Both Simon and I are like little kids when we get to the farm...its soooo exciting to work there and see customers faces when we deliver those little gems to their fisheries.  yes its a business but more so its a great buzz and thrill to see little acorns grow into massive oaks...

Hopefully anglers will vote with their feet but i fear that there are relatively few out there that are willing to do so in this world where convienance is everything to many normal anglers!

Until people do there will always be those managers that see the quick buck route and arent willing to wait a few years for fish to grow through naturally but thankfully there are many out there that do it right and I am very happy to supply my lil babies to good fisheries where they will prosper and thrive!

Jaffa...if you want some then order them quickly for next winter or even the winter after that now! Demand is scary at the moment and we are expanding to meet this as we speak.

hnaks for your kind words about our fish chaps and lets hope there are a few of them gracing your nets in the years to come !!!

Viv
