Had the chaance of an afternoons fishing so rather than hump the carp gear around thought it a good idea to have a bash on the river, just for a change. So, armed with 1 1/2 pints of maggots I arrive at the river around 12.30pm, have a wander around and pick my swim, set up with a small maggot feeder and cast in. I was after anything that would take my bait to be honest but secretly hoped for a Grayling or 2 as it's a fish I haven't caught many of. The feeder is in the water about 3 minutes and I'm in and this appears
At around 6oz, a lovely Grayling.
Next 4 casts result in Grayling all around the same size between 6oz - 8oz. Brilliant
Then all went quiet and not a touch for about 45 minutes and then another couple of Grayling and then I had a bite but with something a little more significant on the other end, it was too long before the mystery fish shed the hook, I assume it was a chub.
Had this fella for company most of the afternoon 8)
He must've gone home a lot happier as I reckon he had about a 1/4 of a pint of my maggots
Around 3 ish I say to myself another 45 mins or so and then I'll head home, my mind got made up for me, about 3.15 there was a swirl in my swim to my left and 3 cormorants surfaced,
Wish I had a 12 bore to hand rather than my landing net
All in all a brilliant afternoon out

Had another pleasant afternoon on the river today. Arrived in brilliant sunshine about 1pm, decided on swims and cast in with a small maggot feeder. Wasn't in too long before the tip was showing signs of interest and I soon had a small Grayling on the bank Few more casts and I was getting virtually a bite every other cast but lost about 3 or 4 fish on the trot I was using a size 18 with double maggot so went up in size to a 14 and triple maggot, 1st cast with this and we have this little beauty in the net
About 3pm the skys went almost black and the heavens opened for about 20 minutes, then left me with this for a view
A few more Grayling, same as last time all around 6 - 10oz I would guess but again another enjoyable afternoon _________________ under 18? Get in THE ZONE
